Packaging Engineer (Mechanical Design Engineer)

Akkodis is seeking a Packaging Engineer (Mechanical Design Engineer) in Erie, PA for one of their automotive clients.

Ideally, this is a Battery Packaging/Design Engineering role where you would be responsible for documenting design requirements, developing concepts, completing detailed analysis and validation, and overseeing initial builds of energy storage systems. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure the final system meets functional goals and cost targets.

Pay Rate: $51-66/hr W2

Essential Responsibilities:

• Provide technical expertise for the design, build, and validation of energy storage systems.
• Lead continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives.
• Project management to meet deliverable due dates.
• Develop, execute, and document Verification and Validation of design.
• Perform detailed design analysis and lead new component development.
• Partner with Supply Chain for part costing alignment and vendor down selection.
• Ensure adherence to NA and Global standards and optimize manufacturing methods.
• Consult with manufacturing and engineering to optimize design.
• Utilize 6 Sigma methodologies to meet reliability targets.

Qualifications/ Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in design or manufacturing.
• Experience with battery EHS and safety procedures.
• Knowledge of robotics and automation in manufacturing processes.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
• Six Sigma training and experience.
