The Role

Our team is growing!  To help facilitate this growth, we’re looking for a head of policy and communications to help support the business as we move into our next phase of growth.  You will be responsible for building relationships both internally and externally to drive effective communications and policy work on behalf of the organization.   In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop the strategy and execute on a more proactive approach for external communications and policy work as we anticipate changes in regulations that will impact the business environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive policy and advocacy strategy to promote government policies that align with the business goals and objectives of Akoya.
  • Develop and execute a strategy for communications and media engagements for the company. Become the policy and advocacy spokesperson for Akoya.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including government officials, regulatory bodies, financial industry associations, media outlets and other relevant entities.
  • Work with PR and lobbying agencies to drive Akoya’s policy positions with media and policy makers
  • Monitor, analyze, and provide insights on regulatory developments, legislative changes, and industry trends that impact the fintech sector.
  • Drive the policy feedback agenda through public commentary and behind the scenes advocacy. Lead advocacy campaigns and form coalitions with industry partners and relevant organizations to advocate for favorable policies and regulations.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams to ensure alignment between business objectives and policy goals.
  • Represent the company in public forums, conferences, and industry events to build thought leadership and enhance the company's reputation in the fintech community and FI community.
  • Provide guidance and counsel to senior management on policy-related matters and potential impacts on the business.
  • Stay up to date with emerging trends, research, and best practices in policy advocacy and government relations.

The Experience You Have

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in policy advocacy, government relations, and communications or related roles within the fintech industry or financial services sector.
  • Strong understanding of government policies, regulatory frameworks, and legislative processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with government officials, industry associations, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience in dealing with financial regulators – CFPB, OCC, SEC etc.
  • Keen understanding of the financial domains including Opening banking, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau initiatives and Digital financial products.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to develop and execute a proactive policy agenda.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and ability to navigate complex regulatory environments.
  • Ability to work independently, collaborate with multiple stakeholders, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
