The Hudson Valley Planning group is seeking a planner to support our growing base of public, private, institutional, and nonprofit clients throughout the region. We are a multidisciplinary team fully-versed in local, state, and federal permitting and regulatory requirements with particular expertise in land use, zoning, environmental planning, and economic development. Members of our team have held leadership positions with the Urban Land Institute, American Planning Association, Westchester Municipal Planning Federation, and other organizations — bringing familiarity with the latest market trends and professional best practices to our work.
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage, prepare, and review planning analyses and technical reports for environmental review documents in accordance with National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) and, occasionally, New York City Environmental Quality Review (CEQR).
- Conduct site plan review and zoning compliance analyses and prepare client-ready technical memoranda on behalf of municipal clients.
- Attend evening municipal board meetings .
- Conduct comparative studies of land use, population characteristics, municipal fiscal impacts, and economic activity.
- Lead community outreach and public engagement meetings .
- Offer knowledge of online engagement tools and the ability to prepare presentations.
Essentials Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree (preferred) in urban planning or a related field.
- 5 to 8 years of professional municipal, land development, or consulting firm experience.
- American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) preferred.
- Solution-focused and thrives working on multiple projects.
- Enjoys working in a collaborative atmosphere.
- Excellent research, quantitative, written, interpersonal, and oral communication skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and deadline driven.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and working knowledge of GIS.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to travel throughout New York State and Connecticut.

Compensation will range from $90K to $115K, and commensurate with experience.
