Job Description Title- Technology Technician
Reports To: Technology Coordinator, Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent
FLSA Designation: Non-Exempt
Job Goal: To assist in educational instruction and administration through implementation and maintenance of computer and related technologies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Degree in data communications, computer science or related work experience and/or industry certification
- Experience with current Windows, Chrome, and Apple operating systems
- Experience with Windows Deployment Services
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license
- Ability to meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No. 2002-457
Skills and Physical Abilities:
- The ability to work with a wide variety of people including teachers, administrators, office personnel, vendors, etc.
- Must be able to climb ladders and carry devices weighing 75 lbs.
- Thorough working knowledge of personal computers and peripheral equipment including the ability to diagnose and repair basic computer problems
- Thorough working knowledge of software including the ability to install and configure software in a network environment
- Personal initiative and ability to work without supervision
- Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism and ethics, working cooperatively with the Board, the Superintendent, Technology Coordinator, administrators, certified and support staff, parents and students.
Performance Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Maintain highest level of security and confidentiality regarding any and all information gleaned in day-to-day activities regarding students and staff personally identifiable information, according to FERPA and Blount County Security Use guidelines as well as any and all state and federal law statutes
- Installation of software on both standalone and networked computers including operating systems
- Provide assistance in the application of technology in all areas related to the district
- Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct Malfunctions and other operational difficulties
- Basic repair of computers and other technology equipment and coordination of warranty repairs with vendors
- Performing network installation of workstations, printers, scanners, and other equipment
- Assisting teachers, office personnel, and others with computer related problems
- Image Computers and Laptops
- Ensure service request are successfully completed in a timely manner
- Maintain appropriate documentation in all areas of responsibility
- Assist administration and teachers in use and function of software used within the district.
- Provide tech support, network management and disaster recovery for all schools and central office
- Configure, maintain and manage network security, including but not limited to Physical security, anti-virus, spam filters, internet filtering, wireless connectivity, and VPN access
- Maintain and update technical documentation
- Other duties as assigned by the Technology Coordinator and the Superintendent of Education
Terms of employment: 240-days
Daily work schedule will be determined by the Technology Coordinator or Superintendent for the necessary operations of the school assigned.
Salary:
Approved salary schedule for Technology Technician is located on the Human Resources webpage. Salary is based on education, certification, and years of experience according to the Blount County Board of Education salary schedule. Annual salary is based on a 40-hour week with daily full-time equivalent of 37.5 standard work hours.
Evaluation:
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the support personnel evaluation system and board policy.
