Alabama State University, Department of Transportation, invites applicants for the position of Transportation Driver. The successful applicant will provide transportation for all ASU departments, driving a 45/56 passenger bus, vans, and cars, and render other transportation related services.
Duties and responsibilities:- Provide transportation for various ASU departments to local, and out of state functions
- Assist passengers in loading and unloading; assist passengers with luggage and other items for overhead bins and storage compartments
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on buses by checking gas, oil, battery, radiator for proper levels and tires for proper pressure
- May perform emergency repairs such as changing tires, light bulbs, and/or fuses during travel
- Deliver to, and pick up vehicles from repair shops
- Perform routine maintenance on university automobiles, trucks, buses and vans
- Perform routine cleaning of buses' interior and exterior; clean, inspect and maintain restroom
- Maintain a neat and clean work area
- Make daily deliveries from the campus health center to the state's health department
- Deliver orders from Inventory Control to various campus departments, and perform other related transportation duties as assigned
High School Diploma, GED, or at least 6 years of on the road commercial bus driving experience. Must posses a state DOT approved medical certification; must be at least 21 years of age; must be able to sit for extended periods of time and lift 35-45 pounds; work days, nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be flexible as event schedules will vary. As a part of the interview and selection process, candidate will participate in an on the road driving test, and evaluation to be considered for the position.
