What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Nurse Scientist position at Alakaina Family of Companies?
Kāpili Services, LLC has a potential need for a Senior Nurse Scientist to provide support for the 711th Human Performance Wing at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, out of Ohio.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serves as a Senior Science Advisor to the USAFSAM commander and senior nurse scientist/ leader; attends leadership meetings and other activities as needed.
- Serves as an advisory member of USAFSAM Aeromedical Scientific Advisory Council, reviews/scores Studies and Analysis proposals.
- Supports Wing Chief Scientist Office: advice regarding military medical health-related research, advisory member of Wing Tech Advisory Council, and attends leadership meetings and other activities as needed.
- Supports and advises research activities in healthcare-related/human performance optimization research for USAFSAM, 711 HPW, USAF Nurse Corps, TriService Nursing Research Program, Department of the Air Force, and Department of Defense.
- Field questions related to nursing practice from the USAF NC and AF leaders.
- Conducts research that is directed by AF requirements as they are identified by USAFSAM, 711 HPW, USAF Nurse Corps, Department of the Air Force, and Department of Defense.
- Present their research and project findings in order to share the information learned with the appropriate audiences.
- Collaborates with other scientists and counterparts in Reserves, Guard, Army, Navy, VA, and MHS to develop and sustain programs of military unique and relevant research.
- Publishes manuscripts and abstracts and mentors others in the development/submission of abstracts, point papers, and manuscripts.
- Reviews research proposals and policies and will consult with a variety of SMEs and agencies regarding the development of protocols/proposals, and data collection plans, and ensure proposals/protocols are realistic and feasible.
- Advises/consults with junior nurse scientists, NC Clinical Inquiry Readiness fellow(s), and healthcare professionals in research projects, evidence-based practice, and process improvement initiatives; serve as the subject matter expert and consultant to local MTF and those without a nurse scientist assigned.
- Shall support the Center for Clinical Inquiry.
- Advisory Member of Air Force Research Lab Institutional Review Board.
REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
- Ph.D. in Nursing Science, with a minimum of 4 years of research experience required within the Air Force Medical Service (AFMS) and/or the Military Health System (MHS).
- National certification by an accredited agency for clinical specialty.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Must show demonstrated performance in management and/or leadership-specific education and training. Such as a certificate of completion or diploma.
- Have 2 years of sustained experience in a leadership position where they led/guided/coached junior scientists/colleagues/healthcare personnel within the AFMS and/or the MHS.
- Experience in Continuous Process Improvement (CPI) studies/projects and outcomes as well as serving on Institutional Review Boards as it pertains to military and/or DoD health care settings and health consult activities.
- Have experience with drafting reports, preparing, and/or presenting reports, documents, and/or presentations pertaining to the status of the research and data analysis as requested. Writing comprehensive reports for third-party use, as well as working on publications for peer review journals and able to create articles for publication independently.
- Have Military or DoD experience in order to ensure they have direct familiarity with the DoD system.
- Will have a Non-Disclosure Agreement in place with their company, and the company must provide a copy to the Program Manager of this task order. This is necessary to mitigate the transfer of confidential, proprietary, and/or sensitive information while in this position.
HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Nursing Service Management course completion.
- Nursing Evidence-Based Practice Nursing CE Course (EBP).
REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:
- Must be a US citizen.
- Must obtain a favorable Tier 1-SF/85 background check.
