The Alamance County Sheriff’s Office is seeking an Office Assistant Specialist IV in the Operations Division. This position will provide the necessary administrative support and will handle a variety of routine duties or departmental assignments. This position requires strong organizational skills in order to multi-task and prioritize assignments and requests, professionalism and effective customer service when interacting with leaders in the organization, as well as internal and external personnel. This position requires confidentiality and discretion.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assembles required documents and information as needed for the Street Crimes Division.
- Answers telephone inquiries and directs them to the respective personnel.
- Obtains and maintains certifications applicable for the position.
- Types reports and other written memoranda for the division.
- Prepares, files and maintains documents for investigators in a uniform manner.
- Types and photocopies a variety of correspondence and documents of a confidential and sensitive nature.
- Maintains the confidence and trust of peers, superiors and the general public.
- Carries out any or all other duties as directed by the Sheriff or his designee
- Engages in basic intelligence gathering (listening to phone calls, etc.)

Education & Experience:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Possess a valid North Carolina driver's license and maintains the ability to drive under the Alamance County Motor Vehicle policy.
- Must be able to successfully pass the following: Oral Interview, Background Check, Polygraph Examination and Drug Screening.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two (2) years experience with a law enforcement agency with duties closely related to those described above or equivalent combination of experience.
Computer Skills: Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint Experience).
Work Schedule: This is an FLSA non-exempt, civilian position. Work is generally completed on a regularly scheduled basis; the normal workweek is based on a schedule of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday, forty (40) hours per week.
