POSITION TITLE: INFECTION CONTROL, RN
POSITION SUMMARY:
MUST BE A REGISTERED NURSE AND MUST HAVE LONG-TERM CARE EXPERIENCE
SALARY IS BASED UPON EXPERIENCE
This position takes on some of the responsibilities of the nursing department as delegated. He/she provides assistance in the functioning of the nursing department. In addition, he/she assists and supports the translation of the nursing philosophy of the facility into nursing practice by participating in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing care delivery system.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Assists and participates in the development, organization and implementation of the philosophy, objectives, policies, procedures and standards of nursing care in accordance with the goals of Alameda Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare.
- The Infection Control nurse is a registered nurse who implements best practices for halting the spread of viruses and bacteria and delivers top care to residents and employees who have contracted infectious diseases. Must have a strong attention to detail, the ability to work well under pressure and excellent communication skills.
- Develop, plan and coordinates curriculum and inservice education for all employees
- Assures that inservice educational records ae maintained for all staff
- Assures that inservice education programs complies with New Jersey State and federal regulationsCoordinates facility infection control programs
- Monitors lab reports to identify infections.
- Communication and inservice all departments in the facility when residents are placed on isolation
- Monitor rooms of residents on isolation on a daily basis to assure policy compliance
- Make infection control rounds on a weekly basis and report results to departments for corrections. Follow up with Directors to ensure the necessary corrections were completed
- Set up infection control meetings as needed, prepare monthly statistics of infections - identifying nosocomial infections
- Coordinates and assures compliance with residents and staff influenza, hepatitis and PPD programs
- Coordinates Employee Health programs, assures timeliness of pre-employment physicals and yearly physicals
- Maintain facility compliance with OSHA Blood Borne Pathogens guidelines
- Keeps Director of Nursing and Administrator informed of all situations through verbal and written reports as needed
- Additional duties and responsibilities as designated by the Director of Nursing and facility Administration.
Salary : $70,300 - $89,000
