Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation is seeking a motivated individual with demonstrated experience in virtualization, server, network, storage, security, and application concepts to provide design and support for the organization’s Information Technology (IT) projects, software, infrastructure, and systems as an IT Specialist.
This position is a member of a team, and its occupant will work effectively and collaboratively with customers, colleagues, and leadership. It is expected that the occupant will grow in the knowledge and experience of the organization’s technology, systems, tools, and procedures to allow for promotion to higher job classes. This position acts as an administrator for assigned IT projects, software, infrastructure, and systems, including IT systems in remote cities and highly virtualized datacenters. This position may be assigned to the Information Technology Security team, and assists with network security audits, intrusion prevention, and mitigation using advanced networking technologies and software.
This position efficiently and effectively reads current technical manuals, journals, white-papers, administration guides, and other documentation to remain informed of the most recent developments in information technology virtualization, computing, networking, storage, security, software, and other organization related technologies and systems. This position stays current in the knowledge required to perform all the position’s functions.
This position is responsible for documenting technical techniques, processes, policies, and procedures and for teaching and training junior personnel to use these systems and tools. This position documents the changes and configurations it performs to communicate the status of work to customers, colleagues, and leadership via the tools, technologies, and processes established by leadership. This position trains technical colleagues to perform technical duties required of the position.
This position travels to assigned remote Alaskan sites to install, configure, maintain, upgrade, diagnose, and troubleshoot hardware and software.

We are seeking a candidate with the following demonstrated Knowledge, Skill, Abilities, and Experience:
- In the last Seven years, two or more years’ experience administrating and supporting modern Microsoft Server Operating Systems; Windows Server 2012 R2 - Windows Server 2019
- In the last Seven years, two or more years’ experience administrating and supporting Microsoft Windows Network Operating System Roles and Features, such as Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, IIS, File Services, and Print Services
- In the last Seven years, one or more years’ experience administrating and supporting Microsoft Cloud Services; Microsoft AzureAD and Microsoft Office 365; Exchange, SharePoint Online, and Intune
- In the last Seven years, two or more years’ experience administrating and supporting virtualized environments, such as VMware vSphere and Cisco UCS Blades and Rack Servers
- In the last Seven years, two or more years’ experience administrating and supporting centralized storage systems, such as NetApp ONTAP and Veeam backup software.
- In the last Seven years, two or more years’ experience administrating and supporting network devices, such as Cisco routers, switches, wireless access points, and security devices.
- In the last Seven years, two or more years’ experience using command automation languages, such as PowerShell, Windows Scripting Host, Windows Structured Query language, and Command Shell Batch
- Ability to read, search, and understand complex technical information and data quickly and efficiently.
- Ability to use logic and deductive reasoning to quickly and efficiently find answers, issues, and causes in a large datasets.
- Ability to work as part of a team administrating and supporting a large inventory of hardware, software, and systems.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision on multiple assignments and prioritize workload.
- Ability to demonstrate reliability in work record.
- Ability to express yourself clearly and understandably in written form.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with customers, colleagues, and leadership.
- Ability to differentiate between different primary and secondary colors.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field OR
- Minimum three (3) years’ experience in IT support, with a focus on cloud services management& helpdesk support
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with end-users, colleagues, and management.
- Ability to work independently and within a team-oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Azure cloud services, including virtual machines, storage accounts, and networking
- Experience with Azure Active Directory, Azure Backup, and Azure Site Recovery
- Experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Exchange Server
- Microsoft certifications, such as MCSA, MCSE, or AZ-104, are a plus.
