Looking for a change of scenery this summer? Enjoy the great outdoors and living in a small, picturesque town? We are hiring an experienced Fly Fishing Guide at the beautiful Boardwalk Lodge in Alaska. This is a seasonal role, starting in June and ending around September.

Alaska’s Boardwalk Lodge is an award-winning, top-rated, Orvis Endorsed Fishing Lodge. We treat our guests to the solitude of fishing wild Alaska, with first-class fishing guides, while enjoying gourmet food, and comfortable accommodations.

Boardwalk’s oceanfront resort features world-class saltwater fishing, freshwater fishing, and spectacular Southeast Alaska eco tours. Our service is best-in-class. We are looking for ambitious and talented guides to join our team for the 2024 season. You will recognize and enjoy the Boardwalk difference! We aren’t like all the other outfitters.

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Fly Fishing Guide to lead unforgettable fishing experiences in the pristine freshwater rivers and lakes of Alaska. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of fly fishing techniques, local fish species, and the Alaskan wilderness, combined with exceptional customer service skills to provide guests with memorable and enjoyable fishing adventures.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead Fishing Expeditions: Guide guests on freshwater fly fishing expeditions in Alaska, focusing on providing exceptional fishing experiences and showcasing the natural beauty of the region.
  • Instruct and Assist: Provide instruction and guidance on fly fishing techniques, casting, fly selection, and fish behavior to guests of varying skill levels, ensuring a positive and educational experience.
  • Safety and Equipment: Ensure the safety of guests at all times during fishing trips, including proper use of fishing equipment, adherence to safety protocols, and awareness of environmental hazards.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Share knowledge and insights about local fish species, fishing hotspots, fishing regulations, and conservation practices with guests to enhance their understanding and appreciation of the Alaskan wilderness.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service, including greeting guests warmly, addressing their needs and preferences, and creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere throughout the fishing excursion.
  • Boat Operation: Safely operate fishing boats, rafts, or other watercraft during fishing trips, maintaining equipment and ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable fishing experience for guests.
  • Environmental Stewardship: Promote responsible fishing practices, environmental conservation, and sustainable angling ethics among guests to preserve the natural beauty and integrity of Alaska's freshwater ecosystems.
  • Communication: Maintain clear and effective communication with guests, fellow guides, and support staff to coordinate logistics, share fishing updates, and ensure smooth operations during fishing trips.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Fly Fishing Guide with a focus on freshwater fishing, preferably in Alaska or similar wilderness settings.
  • Deep knowledge of freshwater fly fishing techniques, equipment, and gear, including proficiency in casting, fly tying, and fish identification.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally and positively with guests of all ages and backgrounds.
  • Strong communication and instructional abilities, capable of conveying fishing knowledge and safety information effectively to guests.
  • First Aid and CPR certification, Wilderness First Aid training, and boating safety certification preferred.
  • Familiarity with local fishing regulations, environmental conservation practices, and wildlife awareness.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to endure long hours outdoors, navigate rugged terrain, and handle fishing equipment and watercraft.
  • Passion for fly fishing, appreciation for nature, and dedication to providing memorable and enjoyable fishing experiences for guests.
  • OUPV/Six-pack License a plus
  • Deep sea fishing experience a plus
  • Ability to pass a pre- employment drug test and subsequent random drug tests
  • The physical fitness to lift and carry 50lbs or more regularly

Pay: $1,700.00 - $2,000.00 per week

Schedule:

  • Monday to Friday
  • Weekends as needed
