What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Technician position at Albemarle Labs?

Responsibilities & Functions: This position is primarily responsible for the receipt of biological specimens into the lab, the preparation and processing of samples for analytical testing, and performing accurate laboratory services within a High-Complexity Lab in compliance with CLIA/COLA standards.


Common responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
  • Receive and prepare urine aliquots for testing
  • Prepare urine samples and performs laboratory tests of high-complexity as defined in the procedure manual
  • Prepare automatic analyzer for testing
  • Identify urine aliquots by batch for computer download
  • Report unexpected or unusual test results to the supervisor/lab manager
  • Operate automated analyzer during testing
  • Perform operator maintenance functions on automated instruments
  • Prepare quality control, maintenance, reagent and other equipment records to document proper execution of procedures in each of these areas
  • Review and document proper execution of testing procedures
  • Release properly reviewed results to the LIMS
  • Order reagents and supplies, as needed
  • Maintain and protect the confidentiality of all CRL and client information
  • Assist in the workflow processes with the daily operation of the laboratory
  • Comply with all applicable federal, state and local safety and health regulations,applicable to this position.
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s of Science in Medical Technology, Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science,or an Associates Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology is required
  • Minimum of one (1) years of laboratory training or experience in high-complexity testing is required
  • ASCP Certification is preferred

Salary : $42,400 - $53,600
