(Northern California Division) Primary responsibility includes auditing store compliance in all categories with Company policies on code dating and product rotation. Special focus will be placed on General Merchandise and Grocery categories. Auditors will ensure that out-of-code product has been removed and properly handled according to Company policies on product returns and hazardous waste handling. Auditors will review accuracy of store level self-audits and ensure all documentation is properly complete and retained as required. Auditors will review policies and procedures and makes recommendations to improve efficiency and efficacy of store level activities. Auditors will provide Store and Division Management reports on their findings along with recommendations for improving compliance with Company policy. Auditors will determine root cause of issues hindering compliance and make recommendations for improvement. Auditors will provide training to Store and District associates as appropriate. Auditors may be assigned other related duties and responsibilities which may include review and development of code dating policies at supply chain facilities or review of related processes like compliance with product recalls, handling of hazardous waste and product returns processing.
- Works with Manager and Director of Food Safety on development of audit processes and procedures to ensure compliance with Company policies.
- Conducts audits in designated categories to ensure compliance with product rotation and removal policies. Removes any out of compliance product and ensures proper handling for return or destruction.
- Completes review of store level self-audit paperwork to ensure accuracy and proper retention.
- Completes documentation of audit findings and recommendations to Store Director and Division Management. Specifically measures store’s compliance with self-audits, rotation practices, and product removal performance.
- Conducts targeted or focused audits on specific items or categories as directed.
- Verifies compliance with federal and state regulations as well as existing policies/procedures of our company for monitoring and pulling highly regulated items in our stores.
- Makes recommendations on changes to processes or procedures based on audit results to improve store execution on rotation and removal of short-coded, out of code or otherwise unsaleable produces in our stores.
- Executes audit/project procedures based upon the defined objectives under the direction of the Senior Director Retail Support.
- Provides training to Stores and District Managers as appropriate.
- Provides division management periodic reports and analysis of audit findings and recommendations.
- Performs other duties and audits as directed.
Salary range is $69,600 to $90,000 annually. Starting salary will vary based on criteria such as location, experience, and qualifications. There may be flexibility for exceptional candidates.
Knowledge and Experience
Education Level
- Four-year degree in business, accounting, finance, or related degree is desirable.
- Completion of or current participation in the WAFC Retail Management Certificate Program is preferred.
Experience Level
- Must have strong knowledge of both open and closed dating practices on all store products.
- Experience in a fresh department is a plus.
- Two or more years in a retail supervisory role including Retail Sales Manager, Center Store Manager, Customer Service Manager, Assistant Store Director or Operations Specialist.
- Five or more years retail experience including product code dating, product rotation, and product salvage is desirable.
- Prior experience in auditing is helpful but not required.
Skills and Experiences
- Demonstrated ability to identify product code dating markings
- Good knowledge of basic computer skills including Microsoft Office suite of products including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to manage their time and work with limited supervision.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and experience.
- Ability to use step ladders, or other equipment to reach all shelves used for product storage and display. Ability to work in refrigerated and frozen environments as needed to complete audits.
- Able to identify problems and gather relevant information.
- Questions basic inconsistencies in information reviewed and alerts leader where appropriate.
- Establishes credibility and builds strong client relationships.

Travel Requirements: Division-wide travel, up to 90% of the workweek. Must possess a valid driver’s license and means of travel. May include night and weekend shifts as necessary.
Physical Environment
- Stand, walk, and move throughout the store while performing audits. May include negotiating steps or stairs in backroom areas of the store.
- Bending, stooping, working on knees to reach bottom shelves is required.
- Ability to move, lift or carry individual products weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Uses calculators, keyboards, telephone, copiers, and store level ordering equipment daily.
- Workday is fast paced.
