Construction Estimator: Full-time, hiring immediately. This role is responsible for estimating various projects, primarily general contract projects, including Design Build, Design/Bid/Build or CMGC. The Estimator manages multiple bids concurrently, is responsible for ensuring all bid requirements and related deadlines are met, and maintaining consistent communication with customers. This person must professionally represent the company at all times while developing positive long-term relationships with partners.

Duties related to this position:

  • Identify potential projects for bidding through multiple sources
  • Review and understand project requirements and customer needs
  • Prepare take-offs, create accurate scopes of work, qualify subs, solicit bids, and analyze proposals
  • Create detailed, accurate bid packages in construction management software and invite all relevant subcontractors to bid
  • Obtain multiple bids for each scope of work
  • Maintain regular communication with subcontractors through multiple channels (email, phone, etc.)
  • Accurately estimate labor, material, equipment, and time requirements for self-perform work
  • Work with the team to prepare proposals
  • Present cost estimates to upper management
  • Evaluate and identify value-engineering opportunities
  • Prepare reports detailing all of the costs going into a project
  • Schedule and lead hand-off meetings for bids won
  • Create, track, and maintain historical cost data in company database
  • Review and identify differences between estimated cost and actual cost
  • Develop and manage positive client relationships and work as the client’s advocate by identifying and balancing client expectations within the context of contractual obligations, corporate goals, and client satisfaction
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 years construction experience in estimating or a Bachelor’s Degree in a construction related field
  • General Contracting estimating experience
  • Must possess strong analytical and math skills
  • Must be very detail oriented
  • Ability to estimate multiple projects at one time, in varying stages, and of varying complexities
  • Strong computer and technical skills, must be proficient in Microsoft Office products, specifically Excel and Word
  • Self-motivated and resourceful with a desire to learn and grow in an entrepreneurial work environment
  • Ability to create reports on costing data, put together professional proposals, and presentations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, negotiating, problem solving, multi-tasking, and organizational skills required
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications, and requirements
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Process oriented
  • Must be professional, reliable, and results-oriented with a verifiable work history and references

Alcon offers competitive pay and benefits. Salary range is $60,000 – $73,000 depending on experience. Schedule is Mon – Fri, 7 AM to 5 PM. After a waiting period, benefits include:

Project Superintendent: Full-time position available with an anticipated start date in July or August. The superintendent assumes overall responsibility and accountability for all field factors contributing to the success of the project.

Essential Duties:

  • Understand and work with Project Manager (PM) to meet project goals, schedule, and budget
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of project plans and specifications
  • Efficiently manage production and project manpower requirements
  • Maintain familiarity with all relevant OSHA regulations and continually monitor and enforce job site safety
  • Effectively communicate with the PM and serve as a liaison in the field with Owners and/or Owner’s Representatives in a professional manner
  • Direct others through clear and accurate communication of the project schedules and scope of work
  • Maintain positive work and team player environment
  • Provide the Owner with quality workmanship per plans, specifications, and company standards; ensure quality workmanship of subcontractors
  • Understand and use project management software (Procore) and other software as required

Most projects are in the San Luis Valley; however, the ability to work in other parts of the state for a project’s duration is required. The typical work schedule is 45 – 50 hours per week. Some weekends may be required.

3 -5 years construction experience is required with at least 1 year as a superintendent or related type role. Rough carpentry skills preferred. A valid driver license with a clean driving record is essential. Must be reliable, safety conscious, able to take direction, and work with others.

Position requires ability to climb, kneel, stoop, crouch, balance, squat, and tolerate heights as well as exert heavy physical effort. Work environment is typically outside on construction sites and may require work in confined spaces. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Metal Building Foreman: We are looking for a full-time foreman for a metal building erection crew. Must have extensive experience in pre-engineered metal buildings (PEMB), safety and people management. Our foreman supervise and work with their crew to ensure projects are completed per the plans and specifications in an efficient and safe manner while also ensuring quality standards are met.

To be successful, a candidate should have:

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in all phases of PEMB, including standing seam roofs and Simple Saver
  • Previous foreman experience
  • A valid driver license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation to get to and from work
  • The ability to read plans and specifications
  • Your own tools of the trade
  • Experience with Behlen and/or Chief Buildings is preferred

Hours are Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, and occasional weekends. Work is primarily in the San Luis Valley but will require out of town travel for certain jobs. Must be reliable, safety conscious, able to take direction, and work with others. Position requires ability to climb, kneel, stoop, crouch, balance, squat, and tolerate heights as well as exert heavy physical effort. Work environment is typically outside on construction sites and may require work in confined spaces.

Compensation depends on experience and is expected to be between $24 and $28 per hour. A full benefits package is offered including: paid time off accruing immediately upon hire; medical, dental, and vision offered after a short waiting period; a retirement plan with a company match after one year of employment. Bonuses are discretionary.

Garage Door Service & Sales Representative: Part-time position available with an anticipated start date in July. The garage door service & sales representative assists our garage door Project Manager in all customer interactions, focusing on providing a world-class customer experience.

Essential Duties:

  • Manage a high volume of phone calls and greet customers that walk in
  • Answer questions, address customer concerns, and provide technical support
  • Assist walk in’s in finding needed parts
  • Schedule service and maintenance with customers
  • Prepare and present estimates
  • Perform other office administrative tasks
  • Assist the PM or other staff as assigned

A successfull candidate will have extensive technical knowledge of garage doors, five or more years administrative and sales experience in the overhead door industry. Must be organized and have a proven record in developing favorable relationships with customers. Well-developed computer skills are required. Strong references from past employers are required.

This position will primarily work in Alamosa with limited travel required. The work schedule is 20 – 25 hours per week. A valid driver license with a clean driving record is essential. Position requires ability to climb, kneel, stoop, crouch, balance, and squat. The typical work environment is in an office but site visits may be required. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs.
