Purchasing Manager

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing a dynamic purchasing organization to ensure material is available to support installations at quality, on time and at the right cost.   To be achieved through implementing robust standard work, creating and driving continuous improvement opportunities, and ensuring that supplier issues are resolved on a timely basis.   This position works closely and cross-functionally with supply chain, planning, finance, deployment, engineering, and documentation control. service needs. 

What you'll work on:

• Create and implement standard practices to support on time purchase order placement of materials to support deployment projects.
• Closely collaborate with the Planning Organization in support of Site Project teams to address shortages and material need dates
• Work with planning team to ensure that purchase order messaging is accurate and executable. Ensure that material is available to support Transfer Orders to the field.
• Enable ERP tools with business systems team for reporting on purchasing metrics and activities.
• Facilitate the implementation of Engineering Change Orders (ECO’s) and play an active role in defining executable ECO strategy including the setting of key ERP purchasing parameters
• Work with suppliers on proper packaging, documentation, and support of shipments to third party warehouses.
• Oversee procurement process for expense categories including appropriate sponsorship of programs and tools to support end users.
• Team with the Finance to ensure the required routines and controls are in practice.
• With quality team, oversee MRB process development for non-conforming materials
• Partner with Commodity managers on the Supply Chain Strategy (including supplier selection) and participate in supplier communication events such as Quarterly Business Reviews,
• With planning team, develop long term forecasting process to enable supplier capacity planning. Engage the commodity managers when needing to expand capacity to meet the forecast needs.
• Participate with the Planning Organization in driving inventory level targets.
• Develop and grow procurement team to deliver on Alert’s Purchasing Team needs through it rapid growth. Mentor buyers on appropriate purchasing practices and controls.
• Facilitate change by driving continuous improvement and collaboration

What we're looking for:

• Strong Business Acumen and Extensive knowledge using ERP and PLM systems.
• Strong materials management experience including setting procurement fences, multi-level Bill of Material and supply chain practices.
• Strong negotiation and influencing experience.
• Ability to apply critical thinking by collecting data and effectively
• Must be organized, able to prioritize, set and keep deadlines, change direction quickly, and adapt to various work environments easily.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with limited direction.
• Customer service nature in supporting teams.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• 8 years related experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline
