What are the responsibilities and job description for the President position at Aleut Federal?
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Embraces the mission of the Aleut Corporation and AF.
- Provides leadership to the area of shareholder/employee professional development within AF and its subsidiaries.
- Delegates as much authority to members of the AF workforce as necessary to maintain a strong, effective company without loss of essential control, specifically excepting overall responsibility for results of individual accountability.
- Operates within the Policies, Bylaws, and Articles of TAC at all times.
- Provides strategic leadership for the company by working with TAC leadership to establish and directly manage short- and long-term goals, strategies, plans, and policies.
- Manages budgets and makes sure resources are allocated properly.
- Informs TAC COO about any aspects of AF that may require immediate attention and /or action.
- Develops annual operating and capital budgets for approval by the TAC Board.
- Directs operations and financial affairs of AF through approval/review of tax issues, budgets and forecasts, internal/external reports, financial and operating statements, analysis of major operations, and determination of corrective actions as required.
- Responsible for delivery of service for all AF Federal and Commercial contracts.
- Represent the company with current and potential customers to coordinate new opportunities that meet or exceed corporate growth objectives.
- Evaluate indirect rate analysis to optimize profits for all operations.
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, and evaluate the company’s fiscal function and performance.
- Responsible for the performance of all AF functional organizations (Contracts & Legal, Accounting and Finance, Strategy, Marketing, Capture, Business Development, Human Resources, Security, and Compliance).
- Responsible for providing timely and accurate analysis of budgets, financial reports, and trends in order to assist the Board and TAC leadership in performing their responsibilities.
- Enhance and/or develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures of the company by way of systems that improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation.
- Monitor cash flow process and reporting mechanism.
- Manage marketing efforts that identify and determine new business targets that align with AF core competencies as identified in the AF Strategic Plan and established business development processes and procedures.
- Establish and ensure execution of all marketing plans that support AF’s Strategic Plan approved by The Aleut Corporation.
- Proactively maintain a network of key contacts with both government and commercial agencies, contractors, and consultants, with the objective of establishing positive working relationships and alliances with regard to new business opportunities and potential.
- Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new programs/strategies, and regulatory action.
- Establish credibility throughout the company and with TAC leadership as an effective developer of solutions to business challenges.
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision making issues affecting the organization (i.e. evaluation of potential alliances, acquisitions, and/or mergers).
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Strong understanding of government contracting, specifically the SBA 8(a) program as it relates to Alaska Native Corporations.
- Must have a multi-faceted background of increasing responsibility in management and leadership positions to include technical management, project management and business development.
- Experience successfully leading portfolios of at least $200M.
- Experience leading organizations of over 1000 employees and through significant growth.
- Experience with contract/subcontract preparation.
- Experience with solicitation and negotiation.
- Experience with government and commercial contract capture planning and proposal development.
- Experience with union contract negotiation and management.
- Competence using Microsoft Office Suite programs.
- Ability to prioritize work and manage multiple projects with personnel from diverse disciplines and experiences.
- Ability to have an entrepreneurial mindset and adapt quickly to changes in the working environment.
- Strong operational background as well as business development and strategic skills necessary to assist AF in securing new business.
- Strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus.
- Experienced leader and financial executive with appropriate industry experience.
- Trustworthy and has a high ethical standard.
- Ability to be a natural educator and willing to share information and serve as a mentor.
- Excellent negotiator experienced in government contracts.
- Decisive individual who possess a “big picture” perspective and is well versed in systems.
Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Business Management or related field.
- Ten (10) years experience in progressively responsible positions that include strategic and business planning, managing multiple projects, bid and development work, union interface, proactive customer interface, and employee empowerment and development.
- At least five (5) years of experience leading organizations supporting the federal mission.
- Must currently possess or have the ability to obtain Top Secret (or higher) clearance.
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree
- Alaska Native Corporation (ANC) expereince.
Physical Demands:
- General office demands.
- Must be able to travel at least 30% of the time both internationally and domestically.
- Must have ablity to maintain assigned work hours in a 40 work hour environment.
