Photographer and Marketing Assistant for Auctioneer of Historic Items
Experienced photographer needed for long-established auction house specializing in the sales of historic militaria (with a strong emphasis on Allied and Axis participants of World War II), as well as autographs, manuscripts, signed photographs and other historic relics. Candidate must be a qualified, motivated, and well-educated individual willing to commit on a full-time basis.
The ideal candidate would have a strong background in post-1700 world history, with emphasis on post-1800 military history, and would need to have good organizational skills and be very detail oriented. The main responsibilities of the position will include; on-site photography of larger documents, relics of various sizes and shapes, framed objects, uniforms, flags, oversized objects, etc. Must be proficient in high-quality close-up images. Scanning of letters and documents, cropping, and leveling will also be part of the applicant’s responsibilities. Critical technical expertise includes an excellent knowledge of Lightroom, Photoshop, as well as other basic photograph editing programs.
The position also requires graphic layout experience for other duties that would include; updating of the firm’s website using Wordpress, constructing and sending of marketing elements via email blasts in Constant Contact, and occasional assistance with call handling, bid clerking, etc.
Ours is a small, very casual office, yet we are the preeminent auctioneer of militaria in the U.S. offering over up to 2,000 items in each of our quarterly sales. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated candidate to learn every aspect of the auction trade from within a long-established house in the fastest-growing collectibles market.
Background check with references, as well as examples of photographic work will be required of all candidates.

Museum, library, or auction house experience a plus: 1 year
