What are the responsibilities and job description for the Pediatric Medical Assistant position at Alice Tanner, M.D., P.C.?
Certification as Medical Assistant and experience in a MA position in a peds practice. In particular, the ability to work collaboratively and harmoniously with co-workers is essential, as well as the ability to ask questions and accept guidance, since this is a small practice. Demonstrable progress on skills, protocols and routines is essential. Meeting of these background/experience requirements may be demonstrated by equivalence, as personally assessed by Dr. Tanner.
Prep patients, record histories, take vital signs, chart entries using Office Practicum EHR.
Administer vaccines, draw blood by finger and/or heel stick, obtain throat and nasal swabs. Perform rapid strep, RSV, flu, COVID and lead tests.
Follow up of patients from non-referred medical care by calling to ascertain proper procedures and instructions are being followed.
Patient education per practice philosophy.
Maintain practice medical supplies, including developing list of needed supplies.
Listing is not all encompassing and more will be expected as incumbent gains experience. In addition, other tasks as assigned by Dr.Tanner will be expected to be completed.

COVID-19 considerations:
All patients call when arriving in parking lot and do not enter until there is an exam room available and they are invited in. Patients and parents must wear masks. Possible/potential COVID cases are initially screened in parking lot with a rapid test.
