What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tool and Die Maker position at ALIGN PRECISION?
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Ø Maintain standard inventory of consumable tooling for milling and turning of metals and plastics such as end mills, drills, carbide inserts, Cat 40 tool holders, etc.
Ø Assemble and preset cutting tool assemblies per established set-up sheet instructions. Includes the use of heat shrink machine, tool presetter, balancers, etc
Ø Purchase consumable tooling, abrasives, MRO items, etc as needed to ensure minimum inventory levels are achieved.
Ø Consistently and successfully maintain cost and usage report. Work with Manufacturing Floor, Engineering, and Tool Vendors to keep consumable costs visible and ensure a conscious effort is made by all parties to continuously decrease costs.
Ø Responsible for maintaining tooling strategy and providing feedback to Engineering and Tooling Vendors
Ø Works with Engineering and Tooling Vendors to communicate need for tools outside of standard inventory
Ø Act as a liaison between Manufacturing Floor and Engineering / Tooling Vendors as needed.
Ø Facilitates testing of new tools via cooperative effort between Manufacturing Floor and Tooling Vendors.
Ø Pull and organize fixtures, inspection gauging, job aids, tool holders, etc to aid in efficient product changeover at cnc mills and lathes.
Ø Keeps tool crib area clean and organized at all times (5s)
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or GED
2 years of work experience with tools and equipment in a manufacturing environment
Proficient in both imperial and Metric system
Communication Skills:
Must be able to successfully communicate verbally and non-verbally.
Interpersonal skills must be excellent, and must maintain a willing, positive, can do anything attitude.
Computer Skills:
This position requires the candidate to use a variety of computer programs. Candidate shall be confident and proficient with basic skills including Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or sketch form.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and sit
Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to adjust focus
Employee may occasionally be required to lift parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
Must be comfortable and capable of using numerous hand tools such as Allen wrenches, screw drivers, torque wrenches, etc
Employee must exercise extreme caution at all times while performing the duties of this job due to the nature of very sharp cutting tools. Common sense and best practices are essential.
