Telecom/Generator Deployment contractors provide support to telecom and utility companies in the immediate aftermath of devastating events including hurricanes, tornadoes, severe winter storms, and power outages. Contractors will work with some of the biggest names in the power and telecommunication industries. Contractors will be responsible for deploying and refueling company-provided portable generators for regional storms and power outages. We have daily generator deployments that are assigned to contractors that are local to the work and we also have opportunities for contractors to large-scale operations that may occur locally or involve deploying to a devastated area. Deployments for Large scale events can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.
This a great opportunity for individuals who are retired, self-employed or even an existing business that wishes to increase its revenue by utilizing equipment or trucks it already owns. We even have individuals that do this just for extra income. You’re not on a schedule and you choose when you’re available to work. This is 1099 contract work and typically contractors make between $300 and $600 a day. All fuel is reimbursed and if a contractor is deployed for a major event, their expenses including fuel, lodging and per-diem is provided.
Ability to plow snow is a plus, but not required and we offer daily equipment rates for your equipment. (I.E. plows, full size tractors with loaders, Dozers, Skid steers, Side by Side UTVs are all types of equipment that is needed). We also have other opportunities available in that area. Listed below are the requirements for this job and information about our company.
Basic Requirements:
- You Must be 18 or older with a valid driver's license and be able to pass a background check
- Understand this is an on-call position and we respond whenever we have a request from our client
- Be reliable and able to travel on short notice
- Have computer literacy skills and the ability to enter completed work details into an online system
- Follow verbal and written instructions
- Own a smartphone and be comfortable utilizing it for work
- Have basic PPE: hard hat, safety vest and safety boots with reinforced toe
Truck and Equipment Requirements:
- A ¾ ton (F-250 or 2500) or larger truck is required for this work
- 4X4 is recommended although not required. However, when working winter storms or deploying in mountain regions, 4x4 is required.
- Class V trailer hitch with 12,000# Pull and 1,850# Tongue rating with 1-7/8”, 2”, and 2-5/16” balls
- 100-gallon diesel transfer tank with metering device when doing refuels
- Basic electrical tools. I.E Hex Head Wrench or T-Handle Set (up to 3/8”), Insulated Screwdriver Set, wrench set, Utility Knife w/extra blades , Black Electrical Tape (6 rolls), Lineman Cutters/Pliers, Socket set, Electrical Code Tape (Red/Blue/White/Green), Multimeter, insulated Electrical Gloves
- Ability to plow snow is a plus, but not required. This will get you additional work during winter months and we offer daily equipment rates for your equipment.
Skilled Requirements:
- Work safely with electrical equipment and be able to utilize a multi-meter
- Be competent to transport and connect a generator to a temporary power interface with color coded cam-lock fittings
- Complete required online work orders and any required paperwork in a timely manner.
- Communicate with Management.
- Responsible for tracking and submitting online your time worked and fuel receipts each work day.
Compensation Details:
- Contractors are paid an hourly rate and typically earn between $300 and $600 a day
- Approved equipment will qualify to be billed when used and is paid out to the owner for each day of use.
- If deployed for a major event, drive time will be paid to and from the event.
- Lodging is provided.
- Fuel expenses (to the event, during an event and leaving event) are reimbursed. If it is not paid in the field, we bill and pay out reimbursements after the event is complete.
- If meals are not provided, a per diem is paid out.
- Contractors are paid within 30 days of the completion of an event. This is a general maximum time, you can get paid earlier depending on the contract.
- All positions treated and operate as independent (1099) contractors
