Our client, an engineering firm, is seeking a CAD Technician/Designer to join its team. The CAD Technician/Designer is responsible for creating, modifying, and organizing detailed drawing packages for the engineering design, and construction utility, infrastructure, and building/site development projects.

The ideal candidate has several years of CAD software experience, understands drafting, design principles and workflows, and has a keen eye for detail. Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Develop detailed design drawings, models, and exhibits for engineering projects.
  • Collaborate with engineers and managers to ensure designs meet the client’s requirements.
  • Revise drawings and layouts based on review-based comments.
  • Develop preliminary layouts into final designs.
  • Organize and maintain drawing files and project documentation.
  • Develop client relations to develop project scope through site visits and meetings.
  • Perform minor permitting and environmental duties.
  • Project quantification and estimation
  • Participate in project meetings and provide technical support and feedback as needed.

 

Requirements:

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.
  • Associates degree, vocational or trade school certification, and / or equivalent work experience in CAD, drafting, or a related field.
  • Previous CAD experience within engineering or related industry preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in CAD software and related tools (Civil 3D, AutoCAD, etc.).
  • Understanding of engineering and construction principles, and drafting techniques and workflows.
  • Ability to interpret field layouts, technical drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and be resourceful in finding solutions.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written, and positive teamwork skills.
  • Ability to communicate with clients, state and federal agencies, and other entities to design, modify and revise design packages.
  • Basic Microsoft Office product knowledge and experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy while adhering to company standards.

Physical and Environmental Demands:

  • Work Location: Onsite 5088 Washington St. W, Charleston, WV 25313
  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm (with the ability to flex hours by 1-2 hours on either side)
  • Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting of equipment and materials up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional site visits and field investigations.
  • Work in an office or engineering/construction environment with exposure to noise and machinery at times.
