CTR Specialist

ROLE:

The CTR Specialist is responsible for working within prescribed BSA/AML policy and procedure to identify and report cash transactions when required. This role is also responsible for referring potentially suspicious activity to the BSA Specialist or the Compliance Analyst. The CTR Specialist compiles evidence and documentation in compliance with BSA/AML procedures and regulatory requirements to ensure timely and error-free filing of CTRs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Reviews daily reports generated from the core system for member aggregated/whole transactions greater than $10,0000 cash
• Reviews CTRs for missing or incorrect information and adds information or corrects the CTR when applicable
• Coordinates with other credit unions on the shared branch system to procure copies of CTRs
• Recognizes potential suspicious activity through analysis of CTRs and monetary instrument log; reports that activity to the BSA Specialist or Compliance Analyst
• Maintains member profiles in the BSA/AML software with correct identification and occupations
• Reviews, conducts research, and reconciles CTRs daily for filing
• Communicates with branch staff daily concerning questions, unresolved information requests, or errors
• Reviews and analyzes monetary instrument log report from BSA/AML software to ensure adequate recordkeeping per BSA/AML requirements
• Fills in for BSA Specialist/Security Officer as necessary concerning research for suspicious activity and filing SARs in accordance with Suspicious Activity Monitoring and Reporting Procedures
• Performs other duties as assigned by Compliance Analyst

Experience: Three years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education: A college degree is preferred but not required. Must be willing to become BSA/AML compliance certified and maintain the certification.
