Role

Ensures the Credit Union’s physical security program adequately protects all locations, members, vendors, and employees; administers building access system and security equipment maintenance; assists staff and interacts with members regarding security issues and ensures annual staff training.

Essential Functions And Responsibilities

  • Monitors new construction and renovation for security equipment requirements; schedules repairs and routine maintenance; tracks quarterly alarm testing across the Credit Union and reports discrepancies.
  • Responds to 911 generated calls throughout the credit union including operations center and branches. Provides a physical response to the affected emergency when necessary and assists law enforcement and EMS. Provides management, direction, and guidance on next steps as related to the issue.
  • Manages vendor relationships to ensure appropriate service levels. Requests bids, coordinates, and supervises installation projects and work orders, and reviews invoices.
  • Assists with security and safety issues regarding employees and members; offers advice, direction or intervenes with individuals exhibiting inappropriate or threatening behavior. Provides staff training annually on security topics, such as robbery, active shooting, employee on boarding and other topics. Also assists with bad weather alerts at operations center and fire drills at all locations.
  • Acts as a liaison with third party vendors and Local, State and Federal law enforcement agencies; assists with the Disaster Recovery Program and with performing security assessments, evaluations, and training.
  • Assists with supervising the Physical Security of Corporate and Branch locations, including but not limited to; reviewing reports, ensuring integrity of the proximity card access system, and verifying security checks are completed.
  • Stays abreast of security trends and enhancements; makes recommendations to improve security processes and procedures. Evaluates security equipment and makes recommendations when equipment needs upgrading or is at end of life.
  • Interacts with other departments and vendors to research and resolve problems; responds to research requests for video evidence and other information. Periodically verifies all video security equipment is operational.
  • Complies with all Security and Fraud industry codes and standards, as well as all applicable Local, State and Federal laws and regulations, regulatory requirements and Credit Union policies and procedures. Provide an annual report each year (February) to the Board of Directors per our Physical Security Policy.
  • Follows all physical and online security procedures and maintains strict confidentiality of all member information.
  • Works scheduled hours and maintains punctuality.
  • Always maintains a professional image and demeanor, consistently demonstrating Credit Union Values and adhering to the Code of Ethics.
  • Delivers friendly, caring service to internal and external members.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Experience

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • A minimum of 4 years’ experience in a safety and security capacity.
  • Physically capable and available to work overtime including weekends, public holidays, and evenings.
  • Effective problem solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be well organized, detailed oriented, self motivated and have the ability to prioritize tasks.

Education

  • Minimum 2 Year / Associate Degree in a related field
  • Preferred Certified Protection Professional / Physical Security Professional

Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.

Other Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • PC proficiency with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Outlook, Word, Excel and Microsoft Project Management software.
  • Must maintain valid driver's license as a condition of employment.
  • Knowledge of BSA/OFAC compliance and be able to assist members with questions concerning BSA. Complete yearly training.
