What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substance Abuse Specialist position at All Out Community Care Services?
Under the direction of the ACT team leader, this position will be responsible for coordinating and implementing co-occurring and recovery- based services for consumers and offering clinical insight to staff and for the ACT team responsibilities shared by all team members. This position will assist the team leader with productivity, supervision of team, and on call responsibilities. Core responsibilities will include providing clinical and behavioral assessments, ongoing therapy, either group or individual, supportive counseling, case management, and concrete service utilizing a flex schedule and will include on call responsibilities.
POSITION DUTIES:
- Provide harm reduction, stage wise treatment for substance abuse
- Assure that MD/NP orders for substance abuse treatment are met.
- Provide co-occurring counseling through individual, group and family therapy as necessary
- Educate and train staff, family members, and community providers in treating individuals with co-occurring drug and alcohol and serious and persistent mental illness.
- Develop network of community substance abuse treatment resources
- Perform substance use and abuse assessments
- Provide ongoing support and education to individuals re: substance abuse
· Provide on call crisis intervention as required (on a rotation basis with stipend pay)
WORK SCHEDULE:
Monday – Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM, with rotating weekend shifts (as required per team). On-call rotation with team members (~8-10 weeks)
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelors/Masters Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology (Masters degree preferred)
- 1-3 years experience in mental health direct care.
- 1-3 years' experience with individuals with co-occurring issues
- Knowledge of understanding of recovery principles and recovery driven service system.
- Valid Louisiana Driver’s License
- Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor/ Licensed Addictions Counselor (LSAC/LAC), Certified Abuse Counselor (CAC) or a Counselor In Training (CIT) required.
