Job Posting for Part time, Faculty - Medical Assisting/Medical Billing/Coding at Allan Hancock College

This is a part-time faculty position in the health sciences program. The assignment may include teaching day and evening classes at Santa Maria campus, or online, as needed. Positions may be available during the fall and spring sessions.

Some clinical placements may require additional immunization and health-related tests in order to operate at the clinical site. The employee is responsible to coordinate and provide this requested information to the clinical site.

The instructor will evaluate and advise students
Provide instruction in accordance with the AMT (American Medical Technologists) approved curriculum for Registered Medical Assistant.
Maintain appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics
Fulfill professional responsibility of a part-time/temporary faculty member.
Maintain current nursing licensure or a Registered Medical Assistant with an Associate Degree.
Teach classes as scheduled. Maintain accurate records
Maintain current health care facility requirements including but not limited to vaccinations, TB testing

Demonstrated currency in the instruction of Medical Assisting and/or Medical Billing and Coding.

Evidence of a sensitivity to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and to staff and students disabilities.

Demonstrated ability to develop and use resource materials and incorporate current computer technology and to use multi-media technology in classroom instruction

Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and present lecture and lesson materials and concepts and to assess student achievement

Demonstrated ability to design, review, and evaluate curriculum and make recommendations to maintain program currency for both vocational and transfer students.

Demonstrate ability to identify and use learning outcomes and assessment that lead to course program improvements

Demonstrated ability to work with and assist students having a broad range of skills, motivation, academic or vocational goals.

Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written communication and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.

Demonstrated knowledge of course design and of evaluation and assessment methods

Demonstrated experience implementing the interrelationship of critical thinking, reading, and writing

Knowledge of diverse learning styles and teaching strategies and demonstrated experience in implementing these strategies.Bachelor’s degree and two years full-time experience as a Registered Nurse OR associate degree and six years full-time experience as a Registered Nurse OR the equivalent for a Registered Medical Assistant

Lecture Rate: $57.72 to $77.18 per hour depending upon education and experience
Lab Rate: $50.28 to $67.20 per hour depending upon education and experience
Activity Rate: $37.13 to $50.62 per hour depending upon education and experience
