Allen Flavors, Inc. is a flavor formulation and ingredient supply-company currently seeking Shipping and Receiving Clerk.
Position Purpose:
Shipping and Receiving Clerk is an essential part of Allen Flavors success! Shipping and Receiving Clerk. This position reports directly to the Logistics Manager and supports the Manufacturing, Administration and Technical functions by receiving and shipping materials in a timely and professional manner. This includes proper packaging to eliminate damages and returns, creates proper labeling. Assures all materials are shipped to the correct locations and by the correct service level (i.e. overnight, second day, etc.). Maintains daily shipping/receiving documentation to include Bill of Ladings (system generated or manually prepared), address labels, hazmat documentation, and hazmat labels, packing slips, tracking and PO numbers, trucking quotes, carrier inspections, etc.
Responsibilities of the Production Associates include:
- Responsible for the organization and appearance of the shipping/receiving area.
- Prioritize and process shipments from the development labs to assure customer satisfaction.
- Capable of operating UPS and Fed-Ex equipment properly and can train others on these systems.
- Accurately process all paperwork required for both receiving materials into the facility and shipping them out.
- Inspect shipments for damage or defects, records discrepancies and notifies supervisor.
- Traces lost shipments and initiate proof of delivery documents.
- Must be forklift certified to drive the company vehicle.
- Follows all safety rule provided by the company.
- Understand and comply with all Food Safety requirements which would include a proper review of shipping papers, COA’s, SDS information, storage information, an inspection of carriers, understanding and executing the Visitor’s policy et al.
- Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states. (Regulation requirements) As well as ensuring the most cost-effective services.
- Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded boxcars and truck doors. – Inspect trucks - determine no odor
- Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies personnel
- Generate COA’s to accompany all outbound shipments
- Print MSDS’s for all shipments
- Attach all proper documentation to outbound shipments (COA’s, MSDS’s, Packing slips
- Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving a platform to storage and work areas.
- Posts weight and shipping charges.
- Prepares and scan bills of lading.
- Print packing slips
- Keep records of all imports.
- Verify and scan receiving documents/ orders to assure Lot and Date match COA
- Take samples with COA to QC Lab
- Verify transactions match sales orders
- Keep inventory accurate Understand and implement Company Certified programs such as HACCP, NSF, NOP, SQF, Food Defense and Food Safety and Food Quality programs as required
- Other duties assigned by Management
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Requires a high school diploma/GED and completion of a craft apprenticeship, or an equivalent number of years of education and shipping and receiving experience
Experience: 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
Skills:
- Hazmat Certification – Ground, Air, Ocean
- Pick/pack – piece, case, and pallet experience
- Cycle count inventory knowledge
- Forklift certified UPS, Fed-ex, LTL, Pallet and truckload processing
- Computer, MSWord applications
- Knowledge of OSHA, DOT, FDA regulations
- Understanding of manufacturing regulations regarding safety, quality and GMP’s
- Ability to maintain safe work environments
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and follow-up skills
- Strong team player and leader with the ability to work across multiple functions and disciplines
- Excellent organizational skills with a high degree of initiative and flexibility
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- Planning: an ability to think ahead and plan over a 30-day time span and prepare action plans to achieve results
- Systems and continuous improvement orientation
- Inventory management
