Lower School Teacher (Grades 1-5)

(Position begins August 2022)

Allendale Columbia School (AC) seeks a collaborative and creative teacher to be part of AC’s Lower School team. The person who is hired for this position will co-teach and work collaboratively with other teachers, specialists, and the Head of Lower School to provide a strong inquiry-based and student-centered program. The ability to assess and address individual needs in foundational skills and facilitate inquiry/project-based learning are qualities that the successful candidate will possess. This full-time appointment will begin August 2022.

Major Areas of Responsibility:

• Teaching a Lower School class using a collaborative, co-teaching model
• Working in collaboration with the Head of Lower School, other teachers, specialists, and staff members to ensure curriculum alignment and appropriate implementation of student-centered and personalized learning with familiarity of project and inquiry-based learning
• Effectively communicating with parents, AC leadership, faculty, and staff about student needs and progress
• Reporting on student progress through parent/teacher & student-led conferences, as well as, written reports
• Other responsibilities include: participation in a family-style lunch with students, assisting with dismissal, and attending faculty meetings and participating in school-wide events throughout the school year

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred);
• Minimum of two years of experience teaching lower/elementary school-level students;
• Must possess excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with parents and the greater community;
• Must have a passion for inquiry-based, student-centered programs and project-based learning;
• Demonstrate proficiency using digital and online platforms;
• Be a team player willing to try innovative and creative ways to bring excitement to learning in the classroom
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination

Pay: $35,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
