- Front desk reception
- Answers phones and schedules appointments
- Greets patients with a smile, completion of registration forms, and gives instructions
- Uses communication skills with appropriate medical terminology
Clinical:
- Measures and records vital signs
- Interview patients while recording and updating medical information (history, chief complaint) and medications etc. into the EHR
- Prepares patients for examinations and performs routine screening tests
- Prepares and administers medications with physician authorization
- Maintains supplies, equipment, stocks and prepares exam room for patient
- Check and responds to patient phone calls (communicating w/the provider on course of action and relaying to the patient)
- Review and prepare requests and prior authorizations for medications
- Know and understand the proper administration procedures. Verify information to ensure you have the correct patient.
- Understand the differences between ID, IM, and SubQ administration.
- Basic knowledge of insurance/ quote estimates for OV and procedures.
- Charge all procedures done at the time of service in EMR and on superbill.
- Properly scanning patient information into EMR
- Performs routine allergy skin testing per protocols and documents results.
- Full shot office responsibility
- Quote estimates for OV and procedures
- Familiar with signs and symptoms of allergy testing systemic reactions. Familiar with emergency equipment and protocols for treatment.
- Seeks immediate assistance from MD, NP, or PA in dealing with emergency treatment for allergy testing patients
- Attendance is required for all In-Service trainings
- Travel to other clinics, within reasonable distance, will be required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or comparable experience.
- 3 years medical office experience preferred.
- Current CPR certification required. Medical Assistant Certification a plus.
- Must be self-directed and able to work independently

COMPUTER SKILLS
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel and Word
- Electronic Medical/Health Record System experience

Physical Demands: Anticipate lifting 20-25 pounds in any given day. Lifting up to 40-50
pounds may occasionally be required, depending on the specific style or type of care provided. In the performance of certain patient care tasks, the Medical Assistant may be expected to have sufficient manual dexterity in order to safely perform various skills and techniques. Tasks and expectations may vary by clinical site and medical practice. Substantial movements (motion) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers in a repetitive manner. May be exposed to acutely ill patients, communicable diseases, blood borne pathogens, and airborne allergens used during skin testing and immunotherapy.
