What are the responsibilities and job description for the Accounting Analyst I/II - Hybrid position at ALLETE?
This position may be considered for a hybrid work arrangement based on ALLETE’s needs. A Hybrid work arrangement means the employees position will be a blend of work performed both in-person and at an offsite location such as an employee's home office. This position will report to a Duluth, MN office.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists with preparation, processing, review, analysis, and maintenance of periodic and miscellaneous accounting entries, accounting, budget, forecasted or other financial data and transactions, company consolidations, financial and operating reports, and other accounting processes for ALLETE and its affiliates.
- Applies departmental policies and practices, assuring compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
- Participates in the documentation of accounting policies and procedures.
- Assists in the preparation of various external regulatory reports and filings (SEC, MPUC, FERC, IRS, etc.)
- Participates in the design, implementation, maintenance and documentation of new and/or existing systems.
- Incumbents may work in any of the following areas: property/fixed assets accounting or general accounting.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting strongly preferred, but an equivalent degree with applicable accounting course work may be considered.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Accounting Analyst I: No experience required
- Master’s degree or certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) will be considered an equivalent for up to one year of experience
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills required in order to establish and maintain relationships.
- This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
