ALLETE is seeking an energetic, intellectually curious individual with fresh ideas to join our Operational Systems team. Collectively, the Cyber Technology Services department is responsible for managing a full stack of technology. ALLETE provides Interns with the opportunity to collaborate with employees, participate in real projects, learn new skills, and gain valuable experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) team
- Assist with managing mission-critical applications, operating systems, hypervisors, physical hardware, and the network that connects it all while adhering to government and regulatory compliance requirements and all the data that comes with it
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must currently be enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering or related cyber-technology field
- Have an expected graduation date between December 2023 and June 2025
- This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude
DETAILS & DURATION OF INTERNSHIP:
- This internship will report in person to Duluth, MN
- This role is expected to begin sometime between June 2023 to August 2023
- The internship will be full time during summer with the possibility of extending to a part time basis during academic terms up until graduation
- ALLETE will comply with college requirements
- Hours and duration are subject to change based on company need

- Willingness to collaborate on problems spontaneously

- Python, Java, Visual Basic for applications, or other programming languages/frameworks
- SQL
- Apache Tomcat
- Microsoft Power BI, Apache Hadoop, Hue SQL, or other programs dealing with large volumes of data.
- Cyber security
- Technical Writing, communications skills
- Microsoft Server 2016 and newer and/or Windows 10
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux (or other flavors of Linux)
