JOB SUMMARY

The Finance Associate position is under the supervision of the Controller of Finance. This position works together with other members of the Finance team to provide support for accounting and bookkeeping tasks. This individual is responsible for various administrative activities within the Finance Department including, but not limited to processing wire transfers, reconciling general ledger accounts, reconciling internal deposit accounts, processing accounts payable transactions, and fixed assets. The Finance Associate Position assists in providing technical and practical problem-solving services to bank management and staff. This position assists in attaining Bank and branch goals through active participation in the Finance department and branch activities.

Specific KPI’s Critical to the success of the position:

1. Customer Service: Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers, vendors and personnel to gain and retain quality relationships.
2. Quality: Efficiently and effectively prepare and analyze diverse financial information in line with organizational goals and objectives.
3. Policy Compliance: Adherence to all Bank and Department policies and procedures including, but not limited to those regarding attendance, dress code, and those outlined in the Code of Conduct.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Process wire transfers, maintain wire agreements, and issue PINS as needed, in accordance with established procedures.
• Monitor Bank’s cash position and buy or sell Federal Funds accordingly, in accordance with established procedures.
• Responsible for daily balancing of various deposit and loan applications and other control accounts.
• Monitor CDARs balances and post entries as needed.
• Balance and reconcile various general ledger accounts and internal deposit accounts as assigned, working closely with finance and operational departments as needed.
• Prepare various financial reports for managers and members of senior staff. 
• Provide administrative support to the Finance team as needed.
• Strong Excel skills for creating and maintaining spreadsheets.
• Utilize technology to perform daily tasks in a paperless environment. 
• Provide excellent customer service to the Bank’s customers and employees by providing ongoing support via phone, and in oral and written communications while adhering to all Bank and Department policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate’s Degree (AA) or equivalent from a college or university and/or 2 years industry experience including: training in financial statements and analysis typically resulting from a combination of education and experience in accounting, bookkeeping and/or financially related areas.
• Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Excel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 5 years direct experience in accounting or finance in the banking industry.

ENVIRONMENT and COGNITIVE /PHYSICAL DEMANDS 

• The environment for this position is an open office that is mostly clean and comfortable. It may include some minor annoyances such as noise, odors, drafts, etc. The individual is in a non-confined office-type setting in which he or she is free to move about at will.
• Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time in an office setting.
• Good organizational and time management skills.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills including use of phone, computer, speaking, listening, and presenting.
• Ability to problem solve, negotiate and persuade customers.
