The Role:

Reporting to the Director of Education, the Education Manager supports the implementation of new initiatives that focus on building a national community of teachers who implement Decision Education (“DE”) in their classrooms across the country. This individual will provide program design, management, and educator support for various educational initiatives that seek to incentivize the integration of DE across the existing curriculum and implement new DE instructional initiatives.


The Education Manager has extensive experience developing and managing tech-based programs for teachers and/or students at a multi-school level and has a keen understanding of the complexities of school and district-level instructional decision-making. They are tech-savvy, innovative in their thinking, and have great expertise in supporting teachers who are involved in non-profit programs and opportunities. 


We expect this individual to adhere to the Alliance’s hybrid work schedule, working remotely and from our office in Bala Cynwyd, PA. In special circumstances, we will consider full-time remote work for candidates who are not local to our office. Fully remote candidates will be expected to travel into the office occasionally.


Core Responsibilities:

  • Overall management responsibility to design and implement a tech-based, national student Forecasting competition, working in partnership with the larger Education team and our external partners (this includes competition design, teacher and student team registration, teacher support, and external communications)
  • Work with our communications and marketing team to build teacher and school level recruitment, awareness and enthusiasm of the competition
  • Lead the exploration and development of new pilots and additional prototypes to foster educator opportunities to learn about and implement Decision Education in classrooms, nationally
  • Gain a deep understanding of various state, district, and school contexts in order to inform the scope and implementation of Decision Education opportunities in various contexts
  • Collaborate with the other members of the Education team to foster engagement into our community platform, including opportunities for teachers to learn, engage and collaborate
  • Visit school sites (once it is deemed safe)
  • Other duties as assigned; responsibilities may change or expand over time consistent with the organization’s initiatives


Qualifications:

We seek a driven and proactive individual who has a high level of intellectual curiosity, values the expertise of teachers, enjoys working collaboratively, and sees the interconnectedness between their role and the organization’s mission. Qualifications of ideal candidates include: 

  • Experience
    • 5 years of experience in education, either as a teacher, or in an EdTech or educational nonprofit
    • 3 years of experience designing multi-school educator programs or similar initiatives that seek to support teachers and build community
    • Experience designing and facilitating impactful professional learning for educators
    • Knowledge of educational learning standards within one or more content areas
    • Experience with program and/or project management
    • Experience participating in or leading efforts to engage teachers into new or unique initiatives
    • Content expertise at the secondary-level school is preferred but not required
    • Prior experience designing contests and competitions and/or play-to-learn programs is preferred, but not required
    • Prior knowledge of or experience with digital badging and/or digital credentialing is preferred, but not required
