What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Engagement Specialist position at Alliance Health?

The Community Engagement Specialist builds and supports relationships with Community Based Organizations (CBOs) that can support our members and population health efforts. They will be key staff utilized to address the Social Drivers of Health (SDOH) resources for members.

This position will allow the successful candidate to work a schedule which will include both onsite as well as remote work certain days of the week as approved by their supervisor.

Responsibilities & Duties

Work with Community Based Organizations (CBO)

  • Develop positive working relationships with CBOs
  • Identify areas (CBOs) for potential investments
  • Increase access to resources

Managing Community Level Data Related to SDOH

  • Help develop, then receive community level data for evaluation and planning
  • Utilize analysis to develop specific census tract plans that impact the SDOH and population health needs of these areas

Host Community Roundtables

  • Using data analyzed, host community roundtables in specific neighborhoods to listen to members, community partners, CBO’s, other stakeholders to focus on solutions for system improvements within specific communities, increasing access to care, etc..
  • When appropriate, utilize consultants to help with process and development

Manage Value Added Benefits

Coordinates with NCCARE360

  • Department contact for NCCARE360 database
  • Manage licensing for staff
  • Work with Quality Management to analyze data, then put together action plans to address areas of concern


Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services related field from an accredited college/university and three (3) years of experience with community engagement.

Special Requirement- Valid Driver License

Salary Range

$20.08 to $34.56/Annually
