Activities Coordinator
Job Location : Mannington, NJ (Salem County)
Status : Non-Exempt, Hourly
Schedule : Monday-Friday 8am-4pm
Allies was founded in 1999, and for over two decades, has been paving a path to independence, acceptance, and equality for individuals with special needs. Through effective programming, and adequate support services, Allies' staff assist people with special needs to live richer lives.
The Activities Coordinator will assist with the development of community and site based activities at the day program.
Qualifications and Essential Functions:
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
- Two (2) years experience working with individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities
- Valid unrestricted driver's license with a good driving record
- Ability to lift and transfer at least 50 pounds
- The ability to sit, bend, squat, reach, be agile, physically pursue individuals on foot and stand for several hours at a time
- Must be able to read, write and verbally communicate in English and direct/respond to individual's needs
- Basic Computer Literacy Required
- At least 18 years of age or older
Responsibilities and Duties:
- A Full Time 40 hour per week schedule.
- Develop community inclusion experiences for day program participants.
- Seek out volunteer opportunities in the local community.
- Facilitate educational and enrichment opportunities.
- Collaborate with the day program staff to develop new activities.
- Create monthly activity calendar with participant and staff input.
- Encourage participants to explore their interests in ways that build relationships and connect them to the community.
- Schedule weekly meetings with individuals to discuss interests and experiences.
- Contact person for new admissions.
- Promotes and maintains the public image of Allies, Inc.
- Works with each individual's treatment team, Interdisciplinary Team (IDT), and all other interested parties to build self-esteem and social capitol for each individual served.
- Successfully completes required residential training, including but not limited to: New Hire Orientation; CPR and First Aid; Medication Administration; Preventing Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation; Shifting Expectations, Life Experience and Services; Life Threatening Emergencies (Danielle's Law); Stephen Komninos' Law; Crisis Management; Corporate Compliance; General Behavior; In-House Orientation; and other required trainings.

Salary : $34,000 - $43,100
