What are the responsibilities and job description for the Buyer/Planner position at Alloy Precision Technologies?
SUMMARY:
The Buyer / Planner function at Alloy Precision Technologies (APT) reports to the Director of Manufacturing Services, with a dotted line to the Lead Buyer/Planner. Because of the integral nature of this position with all other departments, an open, team approach to all activities is very important.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Setup and maintain suppliers according to AS9100 standards as well as maintain all tangible files.
- Cultivate new sources for supplies and products
- Work with Accounting to resolve price discrepancies when necessary
- Continuously follows up on deliveries
- Research, select and purchase quality products and materials
- Perform process of replenishing repeatable goods, by creating purchase orders
- Build relationships with suppliers and negotiate with them for the best pricing
- Maintains information from POs and addresses questions, issues, and discrepancies as they arise
- Responsible for forecast changes on future demand requirements and assisting inventory planners
- Coordinate with inventory team, management and warehouse team as required
- Make purchase decisions in accordance with company procedures and regulations
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
There are no supervisory responsibilities for this position
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma
- 2 years in a buyer assistant or procurement support role
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and negotiation skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word
- Impeccable attention to detail
- Ability to work well in a team and thrive in a fast-paced environment
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- While sitting at desk, work on computer for an extended period of time.
- Must be able to up to lift up to 20 pounds (boxes of files)
- Must be able to communicate effectively.
