Administrative Trainee – Water Resources

Position Summary:

Allworld Project Management is excited to offer a trainee position within the MSQ2 program. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about making a difference in water management and are seeking to develop their career in water science and engineering. The trainee will work closely with experienced project managers and engineers, gaining hands-on experience in stormwater project identification, prioritization, and hydrological modeling. The Administrative Trainee is a part-time position (minimum of 10 hours up to 20 hours) working directly with Leadership. This position shall provide the trainee with real world experience along with multiple skills to progress in their field of study.  The trainee position is for one semester. 

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour

The job description and responsibilities may include but are not limited to: 

  • Assist in the identification and prioritization of stormwater management projects within the City of Memphis. Learn to evaluate projects based on a set of criteria, including environmental impact, community needs, and technical feasibility.
  • Analyze PCSWMM (PC Storm Water Management Model) to support hydrological modeling efforts. Understand how to simulate different stormwater scenarios and analyze the outcomes for project planning.
  • Collect and analyze relevant project data for tracking in the Project List. 
  • Participate in meetings and workshops with community members, government officials, and other stakeholders. Develop communication skills and learn the importance of community input in environmental projects.
  • Provide weekly progress reports to leadership via a trainee activity log.
  • Attend briefings and planning sessions with executive leadership. 
  • Create a spreadsheet for data analysis based on service department needs.
  • Must Complete 15-20 of professional development training; of which eight hours (8) must be assigned LinkedIn learning content. 
  • Assist with the creation of project plans and identify process improvements.
  • Manage multiple, changing priorities and execute within short timelines to deliver results through active project management, issue identification and remediation, real-time plan adjustments and status reporting.
  • Maintain professional relationships with associates and clients.
  • Participate in orientation, meetings, and End-of-Semester Project-Based Presentation. 
  • Other activities, duties, and responsibilities as assigned.

 Qualifications:

  • We are seeking candidates that are pursuing an MBA or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.   Must be enrolled and actively pursuing college or university accredited degree program and must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5; recommended majors include and not limited to Engineering, Project Management, or other related field of study.
  • Candidates should possess a high level of intellectual curiosity, a drive for operational excellence and a commitment to achieving sustainable results.
  • Additionally, candidates should hold strong academic and technical skills in Microsoft Office as well as show proficiencies in leadership, teamwork, problem solving and analytical skills, verbal and written communication and professionalism.
  • Desire to work in project management and to learn about the project management industry. 
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills including student leadership, volunteerism, or other community involvement.
  • Able to work independently, with direction and supervision, and in a team environment.
  • Able to take direction, learn and process information quickly, follow tasks through to completion.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Flexible to work standard business hours as determined by assignment.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills. 
  • Organized with the ability to prioritize and multi-task. 
  • Reliable with patience and professionalism. 
  • Self-motivated and takes initiative. 
  • Employee must have a valid driver’s license. 

Working conditions:

  • Ability to be on feet while performing job responsibilities.
  • Ability to sit for long periods of time depending on your position and/or getting up and down through your work shift.
  • Ability to view a computer for a long period of time.
  • Ability to travel, if required.
