About the Team: As part of ALM’s Global Newsroom, you will be part of the regional brand editor team, selecting the best stories for your publication and newsletters, looking to identify trends, problems, and anomalies in the market from both observations and out-in-the-field meetings and relay those to theme editors or write about those yourself. You will be part of a team that analyzes Web traffic, newsletter data, as well as interviews, to look for the best content to pursue for the brands, as well as think strategically to drive audience engagement and grow the audience.
Responsibilities:
The Bureau Chief is the brand editor and community contact for Texas Lawyer
Monitors and analyzes web metrics and makes story and coverage suggestions based on the
metrics and audience feedback
Manages content on the brand website, in daily newsletters and email alerts, and in print, determining the story lineups with a mix of law, real estate, banking and finance coverage
Leads ALM’s Texas Takeaways newsletter, a weekly briefing of the most important news and insights for law firm leaders, litigators and others from around the ALM newsroom
Responsible for writing a minimum of four articles per week
Responsible for increasing traffic, engagement and circulation
Oversees and signs off on the monthly print magazine in cooperation with the production and design teams
Meets with attorneys, judges, agencies and others in the Texas market to obtain actionable feedback on improving the publication, as well as to build sources and develop story ideas
Establish a positive presence in the legal community and represent the organization in a knowledgeable, professional manner
Ensure stated deadlines are met and the highest quality and value is achieved
Acts as liaison to the community and the courts
Represents the company at events and oversees the awards programs
Helps to back up other brands, most regularly the Daily Business Review (Florida) and the Daily Report (Georgia), and learns other publications as needed
Coordinate law-focused special reports annually, including three awards sections and four real estate-focused special reports

Qualifications:
Minimum of 5 years of experience and a degree in journalism/communications
Demonstrated experience leading news and content initiatives, including ability to lead multiple, high-value content initiatives in a deadline-driven environment
Strong interest in and aptitude for serving a legal audience with high-level law-related content, including news and information, books, legal research and events
Possess excellent communication skills, including oral, written and public speaking ability
Possess excellent writing and management skills, including the ability to sharpen or rewrite copy under immediate deadline pressure
Exceptional judgment and problem solving skills, results-focused business orientation
Must be team-oriented and have strong communication skills
