The Manager, Medical Publications will help shape and execute Medical Affairs strategic objectives for Alnylam’s new RNAi programs. In partnership with the Associate Director of Medical Publications (New Programs), the Manager, Medical Publications will be responsible for the development and execution of publications across a number of early–late stage programs. Additionally, he/she will support in the development of Medical Communications activities and content including externally facing slides decks for health care professionals and scientific platform/lexicon. As part of execution of the Alnylam strategy, he/she will interact with Clinical Development, Biostatistics, Clinical Operations and Commercial functions. This position resides within Global Medical Affairs and will report to the Associate Director of Medical Publications (New Programs).

The Manager, Medical Publications will work closely with the Medical Communication and Publication teams, and Global Medical Leads to contribute to the development of the strategic long-range medical communication/publication plans and will be responsible for implementing corresponding tactical plans to educate health care professionals. The Manager, Medical Publications should have a strong understanding of RNAi mechanism of action, clinical practice and clinical research in order to deliver cutting edge data and technical/practical publications and educational materials to Health Care Professionals (HCP). Working with cross-functional teams, the Manager, Medical Publications will also provide strategic and operational oversight for executing Medical Affairs goals and objectives.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for implementation and delivery of global priorities as it pertains to medical communications and publications
  • Contribute to the development of global medical communications/publication plans and be responsible for their implementation and maintenance through yearly workshops.
  • Support of and participation in regular publication working group meetings focusing on strategic input and decision making.
  • Implement appropriate publication strategy and provide ideas for generating manuscripts of scientific and clinical interests.
  • Support the planning and execution of the global medical communications plans that support commercialization strategies
  • Contribute to the development and execution of integrated medical plans as they pertains to medical communications and publications.
  • Represent Alnylam at medical, publication planning, clinical study meetings/conferences and attend meetings at key institutions as needed to support the planning and/or development of medical publications.
  • Participate in long-range planning; develop and manage project plans

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of relevant publications guidelines (e.g., GPP4, ICMJE) and industry regulations
  • Experience working with DataVision and/or iEnvision
  • Excellent verbal/written communication and listening skills
  • Proven planning and organizational skills with experience managing multiple priorities; attention to detail and the ability to prioritize in a changing environment with a sense of urgency
  • Strong interpersonal skills in developing and maintaining professional relationships
  • Proven ability to collaborate across organizational boundaries

Qualifications:

  • PhD/PharmD/MD with a minimum of 1-2 years in the pharmaceutical industry. 1-2 years of prior experience in publication planning with the pharmaceutical/biotech industry and specifically RNAi therapeutics preferred
  • Prior medical affairs, medical communications and publications experience preferred
