What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Colorist position at Alo?
OVERVIEW
Looking for an experienced colorist with background in textiles and fashion garments. Must have strong understanding of fabric/textiles, color theory and prints. Must be extremely organized and detail oriented. Able to prioritize and meet deadlines. Work in a team environment with cross functional partners such as merchandisers, designers and production.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct review and approval of all lab dips, print strikeoffs, trims, embroideries for development and production, ensuring color consistency within garments and coordination within sets, collections etc.
- Strong sense of aesthetics and color cohesion.
- Communicate color to overseas suppliers and vendors using standard color commenting language.
- Track and chart all lab dips and bulk fabrics from development to production.
- Maintain a timely 24-48 hour turnaround time with comments.
- Partnering with Design and advising color feasibility on a variety of substrates.
- Order color standards as needed.
- Review/understanding and approval of fabric and garment testing for Color Fastness.
- Understanding of T&A and deadlines to ensure on-time delivery.
- Dependable attendance, excellent communicator, good sense of urgency and work ethic.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Background in apparel product development and must have color/fabric knowledge.
- Knowledge of dyes, dyeing techniques and printing techniques for a variety of fiber contents and fabric structures. Knowledge of textile structures and their influence on color appearance; knowledge of industry/fabric/color/testing standards.
- Proficiency in PC/MAC, Microsoft Word, Excel and PLM.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (technically and non technically).
- Capability to be a self starter, think outside the box and troubleshoot independently.
- Highly organized, ability to prioritize and attention to detail required.
- Personable, team player and troubleshoot under tight time constraints.
- Understanding of visual and instrumental color evaluation procedures with accurate and consistent technique: ability to use light box and Datacolor Spectrophotometer.
- Ability to differentiate/analyze color accurately and consistently to describe color differences.
- Understanding of project purpose and commitment required, ability to present ideas and results in a logical manner.
- Can effectively communicate technical information with other functions that are non-technical.
- Excellent results on Munsell HUE 100 test.
