Aloha Cut Cloth is a manufacturing company that specializes in cut and sewn soft goods in small batches for micro and small businesses in Hawai‘i. We strive to make the manufacturing process easy and efficient for our clients while keeping sustainability in mind.
Production Assistant
Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Production Assistant will construct, mend, and modify garments and other soft goods according to clients’ specifications and needs. This may include laying and cutting fabric, constructing garments from patterns using client’s sewing instructions, adding or replacing buttons, zippers, pockets, and linings, adding padding and shaping materials to garments, and modifying garment styles based on clients’ specifications.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures that sewing machines and other equipment are maintained in good working order.
- Lays and cuts fabrics to clients’ orders.
- Constructs garments and other soft goods according to clients’ patterns, sewing instructions, specifications and preferences to meet clients’ expectations
- Communicates with the Production Manager to understand clients’ needs and preferences.
- Works efficiently to ensure product delivery deadlines are met.
- Uses irons and pressing machines to erase the creases on garments and other articles.
- Organizes and labels completed goods for customer pick up.
Requirements:
- Proven sewing experience.
- Sound knowledge of various fabrics including wovens and knits and sewing techniques.
- Experience laying and cutting fabric for orders of 50 pieces.
- Experience using industrial and home sewing machines, including but not limited to single stitch, 4 and 5 thread sergers and coverstitch machines.
- The ability to work efficiently under time constraints.
- The ability to safely use different types of sewing machines and equipment.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Effective communication skills.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Detail-oriented.
Physical requirements:
- Role involves standing or sitting for extended periods of time while using equipment
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs at times
This is a part-time role, which may be scheduled to work up to 19 hours per week. Schedules are flexible.
Pattern and grading knowledge and experience is desirable but not required.

Salary : $36,800 - $46,500
