We are excited to announce an expansion and partnering with our brand new program, Hawaii Academy of Performing Arts! This will be a huge asset to our Kauai community beginning this summer.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Music Teacher to join our team. In addition to our existing offerings, this role presents a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of our music curriculum tailored specifically for the Hawaii Academy of Performing Arts Program. Furthermore, exceptional performance in this role could lead to advancement opportunities, including consideration for a Director of Music position.
As a Music Teacher, you will play a pivotal role in providing comprehensive music education to students of varying ages and skill levels. This is an opportunity to not only impart musical knowledge but also to instill a profound appreciation for the art form among our students.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement music lesson plans that align with curriculum standards, with a focus on tailoring content to the unique cultural and artistic context of Hawaii.
- Teach students how to read sheet music, play instruments, and understand musical concepts, while incorporating elements of Hawaiian music and culture where relevant.
- Provide both individual and group instruction in a diverse range of musical genres, fostering a well-rounded musical education.
- Plan and organize performances, recitals, and concerts to showcase the talents of our students and celebrate the richness of Hawaiian musical traditions.
- Regularly assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their ongoing musical development.
- Collaborate closely with other teachers and staff members to integrate music seamlessly into the overall educational experience, fostering interdisciplinary connections and holistic learning.
- Cultivate a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student engagement, creativity, and cultural pride.
- Leverage technology and multimedia resources creatively to enhance music lessons and engage students effectively.
Experience:
- Previous experience as a Music Teacher or in a similar role, with a demonstrated passion for music education.
- Proficiency in playing one or more musical instruments, with a strong foundation in music theory and pedagogy.
- Experience working with children and/or students of different age groups, with an understanding of diverse learning needs and styles.
- Familiarity with tutoring or teaching methods for individuals with special education needs is advantageous.
- Knowledge of curriculum development principles, coupled with a commitment to innovation and cultural relevance.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students through engaging lessons and activities that celebrate the rich musical heritage of Hawaii.
- Excellent communication skills, enabling effective interaction with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong classroom management abilities, fostering a productive and inclusive learning environment conducive to musical exploration and growth.
