Position Summary
TheField Construction Inspector position monitors the work ofcontractors to ensure quality control and contract compliance forprojects of routine to moderate complexity.
1) Must have Fiber Construction Experience nottower.
2) Be able to conduct independent dailysite inspections to monitor and document construction progressincluding accurate and organized daily reports photos and qualitycontrol / safety standards and regulations.
3)Must understand fiber installation (underground and aerial)including splicing and testing specifications and ability to readand understand blueprints / construction drawings.
Essential JobFunctions
- Overseesinspects and monitors contractual field work which includesexcavations boring placement on hand hole aerial strand and fibercable installation and restoration of work areas.
- Schedules work and inspection phases with contractorssuperintendent and agency personnel.
- Advisescontractors of violations and recommends adjustments tooperations.
- Takes field measurements of toverify contractor billing; checks placement of and performs qualityreviews of construction.
- Recommends changes toconstruction plans to meet field conditions or provide project costsavings.
- Maintains project records whichinclude daily diaries materials notebooks asbuilt plans and payquantity records.
- Warehouse inventoryresponsibilities including : inventory management vendor outfittingand cable inventory management; Documenting fiber inventory andincident reporting in company systems (Microsoft CRM).
- Onsite support as necessary during major outages orsensitive network impacts to provide supervision and oversight ofinternal and external resources.
- Strandmapping.
- Make ready rides with otherutilities; Post construction rides with other utilities.
