Job Description

This role has the potential to include a focus of physician extending for our orthopedic surgeons, Alexandria and/or Willmar locations; in addition to outreach coverage at area high school.

The Athletic Trainer is responsible for a variety of different roles, including but not limited to physician extender; cast room; postop; float; rehabilitation; and outreach coverage, within our department. They are expected to be a team player in the delivery of orthopedic care in accordance with the standards and practice of athletic training, state and federal regulations, and Alomere Health's policies and procedures. The Athletic Trainer will present themselves as a professional providing high quality care, excellent customer service, fiscal responsibility, and maintain regulatory compliance at all times.

Essential Functions

Athletic Trainer Service Delivery

• Consistent practice in a safe, ethical, and legal manner.

• Communicate with all on the orthopedic team ensuring quality care and patient expectations are met.
• Coordinate care with other professionals as needed to maximize patient outcomes.
• Act as a resource to the communities we serve in regards to orthopedic services we offer.
• Involve the patient and others (as appropriate) in discussion, education, and development of the plan of care, expected outcomes, and creation of patient specific functional goals.

Intellectual/Conceptual, Integrative and Qualitative skills

• Ability to gather and critically analyze data to support rationale for appropriate decisions in patient care, consulting others when necessary.
• Safe, reliable, and efficient performance of appropriate athletic trainer and orthopedic procedures to care for all patients.
• Use of evidence based information and principles with application to his/her practice.
• The ability to work in an environment that requires significant physical activity and mobility throughout the workday in a way that does not compromise patient or employee safety.
• The ability to work in multiple settings and travel as needed to perform position.

Other Duties

• Performs other duties as requested.
• Participates in departmental or organizational meetings and trainings.
• Demonstrates ability to use equipment and software relevant to the position.

Education, Experience Skills Required

• Completion of a CAATE accredited Athletic Training program, either undergrad or masters track.
• Previous Athletic Training experience preferred.

License, Registration and/or Certification

• Certified Athletic Trainer with the Board of Certification, Current (or eligible for) Athletic Trainer MN License with the MN Board of Medical Practice
• CPR certification required.
• The ability to observe and practice universal precautions and emergency first aid.
