We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Heavy Equipment Superintendent to join our team. As a Heavy Equipment Superintendent, you will be responsible for the maintenance and management of our heavy equipment fleet. Your role will involve supervising the activities of employees engaged in repairing and maintaining equipment, ensuring the preservation of company assets and meeting work schedules. Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate the maintenance, repair, and readiness of all equipment to meet specific project and organizational needs in accordance with company standards.
  • Assist with diagnosing and repairing equipment as a backup mechanic when needed to maintain operations and uphold high standards.
  • Administer the ordering and timely delivery of proper parts for all repairs.
  • Manage and schedule the maintenance, repair, and readiness of equipment to ensure timely operational status and avoid work delays.
  • Maintain equipment records, including utilization, hour meters, mileage, inventory, repairs, maintenance, and servicing, using Equipment 360 or similar systems to safeguard company investments.
  • Monitor equipment condition and promptly remove any equipment from use due to mechanical or safety issues, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Inspect damaged equipment in the field as required, assessing normal wear and tear, damage, or abuse, and report findings to the Equipment Manager for appropriate action.
  • Assist the Equipment Manager in analyzing equipment purchase versus rental decisions.
  • Maintain communication and build relationships with local equipment dealers and vendors.
  • Evaluate costs and determine the most cost-effective options for equipment repair, including engaging outside vendors, utilizing in-house labor, or equipment replacements.
  • Assist the Equipment Manager with equipment purchases, rentals, lease options, and the licensing, permitting, registration, and titling of equipment and vehicles.
  • Review and analyze requests for tool and parts purchases, repairs, or replacements, providing recommendations to the Equipment Manager to ensure equipment is up-to-date and budgets are met.
  • Manage the transportation of equipment, obtaining all necessary permits, licenses, titles, and safety checks as required to ensure compliance with corporate policies, state/federal regulations, or client requirements.
  • Comply with and support corporate safety initiatives, including holding weekly safety meetings with staff to foster a safe work environment.
  • Assist the Equipment Manager with work order management, invoice reconciliation, and timecard processing.
  • Supervise field mechanics, lube technicians, and welders, including maintaining performance and behavior logs, conducting employee appraisals, and creating development plans to ensure accountability and an efficient department.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience working as a heavy equipment superintendent or in a similar supervisory role in the construction industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of heavy equipment operations, maintenance procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with team members at all levels.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Suites - Word, Excel Spreadsheet, and MAC Suites.

The compensation will vary based on experience ranging between $95k-$115k annual salary.
