Job Title: Security Engineer
Clearance Required: Public Trust
Work Location: Kansas City, MO (preferred) or Remote
The Detection and Monitoring liaison to USDA mission areas supports helping the ISC and the USDA Mission areas regarding with vulnerability management including, but not limited to, vulnerability alerting, emergency directives, binding operation directives, reporting, tracking, meetings, and coordination.
The primary purpose is to support USDA ISC is working on transitioning an Excel spreadsheet system to an automated dashboard system to improve vulnerability management in a more efficient manner.
This position will be responsible to help with the following:
- Help with the migration scanning data from an Excel reporting system to help to a dashboard system scanning data (Tenable, Tanium, Splunk, etc.).
- Surge support working with the Mission Areas as a liaison to ensure the vulnerability dashboards meet Mission Area needs and ensure the collaboration between ISC and the Mission Area to resolve identified vulnerabilities as efficiently as possible.
- Provide vulnerability mitigation support for ISC and customers as it relates to vulnerability data received from the scanning software through reports.
- Evaluate vulnerability report results ensuring we receive the most accurate and valid data as it pertains to the environment.
- Actively escalate all critical issues to ISC federal staff in a timely manner, and coordinate problem identification and troubleshooting calls with all necessary parties.
Required Skills
- Background in cybersecurity
- Strong familiarity with Office 365, particularly in PowerPoint & Excel
- Background in vulnerability management, (understanding CVEs, etc.)
- Expert skills in Excel (highly experienced).
- Strong report writing skills.
- Experience with creating Splunk dashboards.
Preferred Skills
- Prefer prior scanning experience and report reading experience with Tenable.
- Cybersecurity certification such as Security , CySA
- Tanium report reading background is preferred.
- Basic skills in Python Scripting strongly preferred.
