What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Coordinator position at Alpine Silica?
General Overview: Responsible for checking-in, checking-out, and coordinating the overall loading of customers’ trucks through the use of bills of lading (BOLs) for shipments. Will be in constant contact with customers, dispatch and sales via email and telephone regarding orders. Basic communication and computer processing skills used on a daily basis.
Responsibilities:
- Receive (check-in) customer trucks.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel for data entry.
- Match customers’ purchase orders to ours.
- Dispatch trucks to proper loadout.
- Ensure customers are loaded with correct order (proper sand grade).
- Record the weights (check-in weight and check-out weight) of each truck upon check-out. (Loadout takes weights; Shipping records.)
- Clear (check-out) trucks once loaded.
- Be mindful of silo inventories and schedule trucks accordingly based on silo levels, as it pertains to proper Production Planning.
- File bills of lading (BOLs).
- Ensure proper scheduling. Have constant flow but do not overbook. Avoid “demerge.”
- Ensure efficiency of check-in/check-out process—process needs to be completed in a timely manner.
- Work closely with Lab/Loadout regarding coordination of orders, loading trucks and processing BOLs for shipments.
- Create/run End-of-Day (EOD) Reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Basic computer processing skills required including use of Microsoft Excel.
- Some previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience preferred, including dispatching skills, and BOL knowledge.
- Must work independently and as a member of team.
