Overview
ALS is one of the world’s largest and most diversified testing and technical services providers, with sites strategically located in more than 350 locations, in 55 countries, and on six continents providing accurate and timely services to clients in the life sciences, food, pharmaceutical and minerals market sectors, with employees located in multiple sites across the USA. Our corporate headquarters is in Brisbane, Australia however we have a Global Operations center in Houston, Texas.
Primary Objectives:
Provide IT services to all USA Divisions within the ALS Laboratory Group.
IT Specialist LEVEL 1
Responsibilities
IT Specialist I has the following duties:
- Troubleshooting of user hardware, software, and connectivity issues in an Enterprise environment printer connectivity; Outlook and MSOffice issues; password resets; troubleshooting wireless/wired connectivity; folder/file permissions
- Basic Active Directory task work - account and object creation and modification; working with Security Groups and Organizational Units; starting to learn basic PowerShell for gathering info
- Basic Exchange and/or Office365 task work - confirming email addresses; checking and updating distribution lists
- Work with tickets in Service Now – updating; assigning; closing; sorting; filtering.
- Basic break/fix for end-users - troubleshooting simple issues with connectivity; peripherals; hardware; and software
- Setting up accounts and hardware for incoming hires, and tearing down same for departing employees - building accounts; imaging and deploying hardware; retrieving hardware
- Responsible for setup of company events from an IT perspective, including support for A/V and computer requirements
- Simple documentation
Qualifications
Position Requirements:
- A minimum of (3) years technical support experience supporting PC’s, printers, and wireless devices
- Experience in Windows environment (window desktop)
- Experience with hardware troubleshooting, network security, network administration. Technical certifications in PC or network-relates areas are a plus (Comp Tia, A , Network )
- Ability to be on-call for critical off-hours support on a rotating basis (monthly)
- Basic knowledge of network connectivity, protocols and security devices to include VPN troubleshooting
- Good in-person, phone, and written communication skill; managing expectations, deescalating stressed users/situations
Core Competencies:
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office, Office 365, Active Directory
- Team oriented.
