LIMS Support Specialist

Primary Objective:

The LIMS Support Specialist will be responsible to provide daily support to LIMS users, troubleshoot existing LIMS functionalities, provide end-user training with constant user engagement, document system and work processes, assist in testing configurations and testing of new system.  The individual will work closely with other team members to ensure data integrity and provide user requirements.

Responsibilities

Position Duties and Scope:

• Serve as LIMS project lead to implement and support all LIMS related processes.
• Install and configure client software for each user.
• Configure and support LIMS analysis, test lists and other LIMS static data.
• Document all LIMS analyses and supporting processes.
• Develop and support instrument integration and automation processes.
• Develop SSRS and Excel reports including scheduling to report inventories, data reports to customers, Key Performance Indicator reports and any other reports needed to support the laboratory functions.
• Write training and support manuals to serve as reference and training resources.
• Conduct targeted training sessions as needed for each department.
• Manage software support agreements for LIMS, MSSQL and other supporting software.
• Follow up on all provided services with the laboratory personnel to ensure the provided services meet all designated requirements to include hands-on support until the service is accepted by the laboratory and including the completion of validation procedures and documentation.
• Follow all Quality Assurance guidelines to ensure the provided software is archived to ensure full recovery of software and supporting documentation
• Other duties as assigned.

• Play an active role in the ALS safety program by correcting or reporting unsafe acts and conditions that are observed during day to day operations to create a zero-injury work environment

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent work experience is preferred.
• Minimum 2-3 Years of LIMS experience. Experience in a laboratory is an asset.
• Minimum 2-3 Years MS Excel programming to extract and format LIMS results into standardized reports.
• Experience with MSSQL database with specific emphasis with server and client installation - ODBC configuration.

Other Requirements:

• Must be able to work on computer while sitting for up to 8 hours per day.
• Dexterity in hands and fingers to operate computer and other equipment.
• Must have average vision and able to see to read reports and operate equipment.
• Able to speak and hear clearly while communicating with co-workers and managers.
• Ability to work overtime and weekends when required.
