Do you have resource family or foster family experience and want to work throughout the Greater Bay Area? With over 50,000 foster youth throughout California, Resource Family Recruiters are critical in ensuring foster youth are well cared for within their community. Alternative Family Services, a Foster Family, Adoption and Mental Health Agency, serving children and families throughout the Bay Area, has a full-time position for a Resource Family Recruiter.

Position Summary
The Resource Family Recruiter is responsible for the ongoing recruitment of prospective resource, adoptive, and respite families and the tracking of data surrounding prospective families from the initial point of contact to certification. Under the direction of the Recruitment Director, the Resource Family Recruiter will be responsible for the development and maintenance of agency wide recruitment campaigns. This Full-Time position involves marketing within the community to attract prospective families, screening prospective applicants, collecting and processing application materials for foster/adoptive parents and respite workers. The Resource Family Recruiter may also provide training to foster parents and support Pre-Service-Trainings in all offices when necessary.

Responsibilities
  • Devise, implement and support annual Resource family/adoptive parent recruitment plan that addresses program, regional, and client specific needs of the agency Assist approvers and conduct in-home orientations and physical plant assessment. Manage families progress towards final approval.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the CRITA team to process resource parents through approval process
  • Respond to resource parent inquires in a timely fashion
  • Complete inquiry interviews on prospective families
  • Provide CRITA with prospective families for Approval Team
  • Conduct Resource Parent Orientations, physical plant assessments and support families through recruitment/approval process as assigned
  • Provide data outlining progress and identify obstacles in recruitment process
  • Promote resource parent and staff recruitment incentive program
  • Support tracking of data outlining resource parent approval progress, identifying obstacles, and developing program within the recruitment/approval process using the agency data bases (Binti, Foster Trak and Spreadsheets) and other tools as assigned
  • Assist with resource parent training sessions for prospective resource/adoptive families as assigned
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA privacy practices
  • Support clerical tracking spreadsheets, logs and audit systems as needed
  • Coordinate community and recruitment events, utilizing recruitment tools
  • Attend and collaborate with community partners
  • Adhere to AFS attendance and punctuality policy
  • Evenings and weekends may be required
  • Assist CRITA Intake Team with client placement when necessary
  • Drive and possibly transport children into a variety of community settings using a personal vehicle that is maintained in safe working order

Needed Upon Hire
  • Superior people and communication skills and sales experience
  • Understanding of family dynamics, child and adolescent development
  • Bilingual, Spanish Speaking preferred
  • Ability to connect with community organizations and arrange recruitment event
  • Proven ability to collect and use data in pursuit of program objectives
  • Proven ability to work and organize within a community
  • Obtain and maintain fingerprint and government and Agency required background clearances
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Able to drive into a variety of community settings using a personal vehicle that is maintained in safe working order
  • Valid California driver’s license with an acceptable driving record and auto insurance showing as an insured driver on the policy
  • Possess a high level of integrity, honesty and strong work ethic
  • Able to clearly communicate verbally and in writing
  • Able to read and write fluently in English, Spanish would be a plus
  • Able to meet the specific linguistic needs of the target population
  • Able to maintain a professional demeanor in a stressful environment
  • Able to interact calmly and professionally with staff, resource parents and clients (who may act out) deleted words
  • Able to interact with co-workers and community members as part of a cooperative team
  • Able to prioritize tasks with minimal direct supervision, manage time and oriented to detail
  • Possess and agree to work in a culturally competent manner as it relates to the diverse client population served
Driving Requirements
This position requires the employee to work out in the community and within foster homes throughout the Bay Area. Thus, position requires employee to possess a valid CA driver’s license and valid automobile insurance with his/her name on the verification card as an insured driver on the policy at all times. Position requires daily access to a car in safe working order. AFS provides mileage reimbursement.
