What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Counsel position at Altria?
Altria Client Services’ role is to provide high-quality services to the Altria family of companies. We are currently seeking a highly qualified Senior Counsel to join our Law Department.
This position is within the Law Department’s Product, Regulatory and Intellectual Property Practice Group, which provides legal counsel on Innovative and Core Product Development, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Quality, Patent and Trademark matters, International and general business matters affecting Altria’s tobacco operating companies’ products. The position is located in Richmond, VA. Open to remote work arrangements. You will report to Vice President and Associate General Counsel.
As a Senior Counsel, your responsibilities will include:
• Advising the business on all matters impacting its products, including product development of core and innovative products, manufacturing, and regulatory issues including those of the federal Tobacco Control Act.
• Coordinating the legal services across the law department for our international businesses and with international counsel representing those businesses and initiatives.
• Handling special projects as necessary.
Specific Skills:
• A law degree is required, with a solid record of academic achievement. The position requires between 5 and 10 years’ experience in a law firm, corporate legal department, or federal or state government agency.
• Admission to a state bar is required.
• We would prefer you have demonstrated outstanding abilities and legal experience in a wide range of legal matters.
• Capable of operating in a fast-paced environment; must show critical thinking and attention to detail; and must have strong organizational and communications skills.
• Ability to balance multiple, conflicting priorities in a constantly evolving environment, managing substantial workload and client expectations, and interacting with all management levels.
• Demonstrated reliability, good judgment, teamwork, time management, and effective legal research and writing skills.
