Job Description
Summary of duties and responsibilities:
Perform required analytical testing of finished goods and in-process checks to assure adherence to established product specifications. Follow established methods of sampling and sample preparation. Follow standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure testing is as efficient and safe as possible.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
1. Perform tasks as assigned by Q.A. Manager/Quality Coordinator
2. Perform analytical testing of all raw materials, in-process samples and finished goods.
3. Operate all lab equipment as designated/assigned by lab manager.
4. Monitor and chart production trends as required.
5. Monitor and report problems associated with customer requirements for specific products.
6. Issue “Red Tags” on Non-Conforming product located in the warehouse
7. Enter relevant and necessary lab data in QA database.
8. Monitor equipment calibration, access calibration records and perform required calibration.
9. A minimum amount of troubleshooting maybe required for lab equipment
10. Complete all necessary paperwork and documentation associated with laboratory functions.
11. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
Performs other related duties and assignments as required.
Education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge: The position will be required to perform higher-level reading, writing, comprehension and troubleshooting. The position requires employees to be able to understand instructions from and communicate with department managers, shift supervisor(s), other quality technicians, plant personnel and other managers.
Physical environment/working conditions: The position is in the Q.A. laboratory and may involve sitting, standing, walking, climbing, bending, stooping and some lifting throughout the shift.
Equipment and Machinery used: Sieves, sieve shaker, magnetic analyzer, pH meter, particle size analyzers, surface area analyzer, water de-ionizers, ovens, sample splitters, dust hoods, lab mixers, stirrers, compressed gas tanks and lab scales.
PPE required: This position requires the use of a hard hat, steel-toe safety shoes, hearing protection and a dust mask or respirator where indicated in the plant. May also require use of safety glasses and gloves within laboratory.
